The 10 best clubs in Rio de Janeiro, ranked: D-Edge Rio, Circo Voador, Rio Scenarium and more, with entry in reais, closing times and what each door wants.
The best clubs in Rio de Janeiro are a mix of electronic rooms and live-music halls, because the city goes out for bands as much as for DJs. Resident Advisor's Rio guide lists only five rooms. D-Edge Rio in the port zone and Trauma in Centro are the two electronic clubs we could confirm with dated October 2026 nights. The rest of this list is the Lapa samba houses and the concert halls under the Arcos da Lapa, which is where most people end up.
Each entry gives you the entry price where it is published, the closing time, what the door wants and one honest reason to skip it. The basics first: electronic nights start at 22:00 or 23:00 and finish between 05:00 and 07:00, while samba houses finish at about 01:00 to 03:00. Club tickets run about R$30–100 (€5.50–18). The metro stops at midnight, so order Uber or 99 before you go.
We ranked clubs on five things: sound, crowd, door, late licence and value. Sound means a room built for dancing or live music, judged from the published programme, not measured. Crowd means a night built around the music. Door means you can predict whether you get in. Late licence means how long the night runs. Value compares the ticket with the night. Every venue here has an official or dated listing from late 2025 or 2026. Audio Rebel, Blue Note Rio, Bosque Bar, Club Substation and Pedra do Sal are in our directory but not ranked.
D-Edge Rio has the clearest electronic programme in the city: Victor Lou on Friday 16 October and D-Housers on Saturday 17 October 2026, both listed from 23:00 to 07:00 and 18+. It sits in a cultural centre on Avenida Rodrigues Alves in Saúde and shares its name with the São Paulo club. Skip it if you want a short night or a walk home: the port zone is quiet after dark.
Circo Voador is a large hall with a listed capacity of about 2,200, open since 1982, and it books a different night almost every day. June and July 2026 listings ran from a free Friday to R$180 (€32) for the Arraiá do Circo, with half-price lots for eligible groups. Skip it if you want the same night every week: the programme changes daily and the age rating is set per event.
Rio Scenarium fills three floors and seven rooms on Rua do Lavradio, with live Brazilian bands for dancing from Wednesday to Saturday and a Saturday samba and feijoada session from 12:00 to 18:00. The official site lists 19:00 to 01:00 on Wednesday and Thursday, 19:00 to 02:00 on Friday and 20:00 to 03:00 on Saturday. Skip it if you want a quiet drink: it holds about 2,000 people and is loud on a full night.
Carioca da Gema is a small samba house on Avenida Mem de Sá with live bands from Tuesday to Saturday. A June 2026 schedule lists first shows at 20:30 or 21:00, with two shows on Friday, and a cover is charged on top of drinks: R$25–38 (€4.50–7) according to an undated guide. Skip it if you want room to move: the house is small and tables go before 22:00.
Beco do Rato is a samba bar on Rua Joaquim Silva that added a Saturday session from 12:00 to 18:00 on 1 November 2025, and a June 2026 listing still showed it opening at 12:00. Entry is free until 14:00 and R$25 (€4.50) after that, with feijoada at R$40 (€7). Skip it if you want a quiet lunch or a published evening schedule: the session is built around live samba, and evening hours are not published.
Trauma is a club on Rua do Carmo in Centro that Resident Advisor lists among Rio's rooms. Its Noites de Dub night on Saturday 17 October 2026 books Confronto Soundsystem and Trajano from 22:00 to 05:00, 18+, at R$50 (€9) or R$30 (€5.40) early bird. Skip it if you want a bar crawl: Centro is thin at night and you need a car both ways.
Sacadura 154 is a large venue in Santo Cristo with a listed capacity of 2,000, and its calendar leans towards concerts: Testament are booked for Sunday 13 December 2026. The street around it also holds parties, such as Raw Pulse 002 at number 167 on 17 October 2026. Skip it if you want a weekly club night: prices, ages and hours are set per event.
Fundição Progresso is a large event hall at Rua dos Arcos 24, a few doors from Circo Voador. Its own 2026 calendar runs from a samba night on Thursday 15 October at 21:00 to Armandinho on 5 December, and into 2027 with Slash with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators on 13 April. Skip it if you want a club night: the programme is show by show, and prices are not listed on the venue page.
Pink Flamingo is an LGBTI+ club known for drag, in the former Le Boy space on Rua Raul Pompeia. Time Out reported its seventh anniversary on Saturday 28 March 2026 from 21:00, with tickets from R$30 (€5.40), and April listings had Latin, pop and Shakira nights on weekdays. Skip it if you want electronic music: the nights here are drag, pop and Latin.
Club 63 is a Botafogo club on Rua Paulo Barreto that runs electronic nights, such as the Festa Eletrônica on Friday 12 June 2026, listed from 23:00 to 06:00, 18+ and R$100 (€18). Songkick shows nights in November and December 2025 too. Skip it if you need a confirmed date: no future night was listed when we checked, so confirm the next one before you travel.
Plan one area per night. In Lapa, Rio Scenarium, Carioca da Gema and Beco do Rato are a few streets apart. Circo Voador and Fundição Progresso are neighbours on Rua dos Arcos, so you can see a show and then finish in a samba house. The port zone is a separate ride: D-Edge Rio is on Avenida Rodrigues Alves in Saúde, and Sacadura 154 is on Rua Sacadura Cabral in Santo Cristo. Trauma is in Centro and Club 63 is in Botafogo, so each is a trip of its own.
Getting around is the hard part. The metro runs from 05:00 to midnight, and from 07:00 to 23:00 on Sundays and holidays. After that, use Uber or 99, which cost about R$25–70 (€4.50–12) for a 15 to 20 minute ride, and avoid unlicensed taxis.

About R$30–100 (€5.50–18). Trauma is R$50 for 17 October, Club 63 was R$100 in June and D-Edge Rio starts from R$70. Carioca da Gema charges a cover of R$25–38 according to an undated guide.
Yes for the electronic nights: D-Edge Rio, Trauma and Club 63 list 18+. Circo Voador sets the age rating for each event, so read the event page. Bring photo ID.
With care. The US rates Brazil Level 2, and UK advice updated on 7 October 2026 warns of robbery, phone theft and drink spiking. Use Uber or 99, keep your phone inside and watch your drink.
