Birmingham nightlife is spread over a few clear districts, and Digbeth is the one that matters most after midnight. XOYO, LAB11 and Forum Digbeth fill old warehouses east of the Bullring with garage, bassline, drum and bass, house and hip-hop most weekends. Broad Street is the mainstream strip, with Snobs and Rosies. The Gay Village around Hurst Street runs late, and the Jewellery Quarter adds the Tunnel Club, Asylum and a few good bars. Most club tickets cost £5–20, and the big rooms close between 03:00 and 06:00. Worth knowing: trams do not run through the night, so plan a taxi or a walk home before you go out.

Digbeth is where the big nights happen. East of the Bullring, old warehouses and railway arches hold XOYO, with room for nearly 3,000 people across several spaces, the LAB11 warehouse and Forum Digbeth, which moved here in 2025 and announced a second hall, the Annexe, for December 2025 to double its capacity to 4,000. Most weekends bring garage, bassline, drum and bass, house and hip-hop.
The old institutions are still open. Snobs has played indie and alternative records since 1972 and moved into its own building at 240 Broad Street in September 2026. The Nightingale Club, founded in 1968, is the city's oldest and largest LGBTQ+ venue, three floors on Kent Street in the Gay Village.
Saturday often starts in the afternoon. LAB11, XOYO and Mama Roux's run day parties that start between 13:00 and 16:00, and LAB11's finish by 23:00. The late crowd arrives after 22:00 and stays until 03:00 or later, so read the times on your ticket before you plan dinner.
Bassline, garage and drum and bass fill the Digbeth listings: Detox at XOYO, Substance at LAB11 and Kings of the Rollers at Forum Digbeth.
Snobs plays indie and alternative across three floors on Fridays and Saturdays, and Asylum runs emo, Y2K and pop-punk club nights from 23:00.
The Gay Village around Hurst Street has the Nightingale Club for the big night and Missing Bar for drag, karaoke and a 04:00 finish at the weekend.
Rosies on Broad Street and Circo in Selly Oak run cheap themed nights in term time, with Circo tickets from £1.
Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath, the O2 Institute in Digbeth, the Sunflower Lounge and the Jam House have gigs most weeks.
The Night Owl has a sprung wooden dancefloor built for northern soul, and its Digbeth Jazz Tuesdays cost £6.
Not for you if you want one compact old town where every bar is on the same street. The scenes are spread over several districts, and Digbeth to Broad Street is a long walk or a taxi.

Bring photo ID. Snobs takes a passport, a driving licence (provisional is fine) or a CitizenCard, and turns away sportswear, workwear, football tops, caps and hoods. LAB11 accepts only a driving licence or a passport, allows bags up to A5 and bans large bags, two-piece tracksuits, slides and big jewellery. The big Digbeth nights sell out online: several LAB11 events in October 2026 were sold out before the night.
Most club nights cost £5–20. Recent examples: £8 at Snobs, £6–22.50 at XOYO, £10–25 at LAB11, £5–20 at Forum Digbeth, £5 for Halloween at the Nightingale and £1–15 for student nights at Circo. Special events with big bookings or table packages can reach £40–60.
