Tbilisi

Tbilisi nightlife runs on a later clock than most of Europe. The two big clubs open their doors at 23:59 and keep going until noon or later: Bassiani, in the old swimming pool under Dinamo Arena, and KHIDI, built into the embankment under a bridge. Around them sits a small, close-knit scene of riverside rooms, courtyard parties in Chugureti and wine bars in Sololaki and Vera. A club door usually costs ₾30–50, less before midnight, and a few nights are free. The doors are strict and cameras stay in your pocket. Worth knowing: the metro stops around midnight, just as the clubs open, so almost every night ends with a Bolt.

What to expect

The night starts when the metro stops. Bassiani and KHIDI open at 23:59, and the metro runs only until about midnight. The rooms fill well after that, and the big nights finish at 11:00 or noon the next day. Arrive by Bolt and plan to leave in daylight.

The door decides, not the ticket. Face control is strict at the techno clubs, and some listings say it outright: at Left Bank an online ticket does not guarantee entry. Photos and video are banned inside Bassiani, Mtkvarze and Left Bank. Come in a small group, bring your passport and do not argue with the door.

The scene is small, and it has a political edge. Police raided Bassiani in May 2018 and arrested its two owners, which led to public demonstrations. Queer nights are part of the core programme, from Horoom and Hydrash at Bassiani to The Drag Ball at Mtkvarze. Since the October 2024 election, anti-government protests have also been held on Rustaveli Avenue, outside Parliament.

Who this city is for

Techno and house heads

Bassiani and KHIDI pair international bookings with a deep bench of Georgian DJs, and a normal Saturday runs for about twelve hours.

Queer clubbers

Horoom and Hydrash at Bassiani and The Drag Ball at Mtkvarze. Hydrash is free for LGBTQIA+ and FLINTA* guests who register on the #communal platform.

Budget travellers

Club doors cost about ₾30–50 (€10–17), Mtkvarze charges ₾15 before midnight, and Left Bank's Saturdays are free. A metro ride is ₾1.

Wine drinkers

Natural and organic wine bars in Sololaki, Vera and Chugureti, with glasses from about ₾8.

Late finishers

Closing time is when the music stops: noon at Bassiani, mid-afternoon on KHIDI's biggest nights.

Day-to-night partygoers

L'ado's courtyard day parties start at 16:00, and Left Bank's Sunday Gathering opens at 18:00 with free entry.

Not for you if you want bottle service, a dress-up night or photos of the dance floor. The best rooms here ban cameras, and the door chooses the crowd.

Do a Switch Floors night at KHIDI

Artists swap between the main floor and G2, and the night can run from 23:59 to 16:00. Tickets come in tiers from ₾40 to ₾80.

Spend a Saturday at Left Bank

Free Saturdays start at 21:00 with selector sets in Space One, then move into the courtyard for an outdoor club night that runs until 08:00. Bring ID: it is mandatory. Resident Advisor reports that the warehouse floor, Space Two, closed in February 2026.

Go to the Thursday party at Dedaena Bar

Dila Radio plays disco and house every Thursday from 22:00 to 02:00. Entry is free.

Take a day-to-night party at L'ado

On Gudiashvili Square, the YesYesYes day parties start in the courtyard at 16:00 and move indoors at night.

Drink natural wine in Sololaki

Vino Underground is billed as the first organic and bio wine venue in Tbilisi, in a brick-vaulted Sololaki cellar. It is under new management in 2026, so check the list first.

The neighbourhoods

Old Town — courtyards and gin

L'ado's courtyard parties on Gudiashvili Square, more than 220 gins at The Gin Corner and Georgian craft beer at Hopa Taproom on Atoneli Street. Liberty Square metro is close. Skip the touts around Shardeni Street.

Sololaki — cocktails and natural wine

Nineteenth-century streets with bars in old apartments: Apotheka in a 1902 pharmacy, Vino Underground's cellar and Tsota Tsota Pub. The best place to start a night.

Vera — wine bar after wine bar

Upmarket and residential. Wine Factory N1 and Wine Not? share Petriashvili Street, five to ten minutes on foot from Rustaveli metro.

Marjanishvili & Chugureti — the creative side

Fabrika's courtyard in a former Soviet sewing factory, the 21+ Meteor Studio, free Thursdays at Dedaena Bar, Unfound Door and Wine Merchants. Marjanishvili and Station Square are the metro stops.

Dinamo Arena — Bassiani

The country's largest techno club, in the old swimming pool under the 54,139-seat stadium, north of the centre. Come by Bolt and plan the whole night around it.

Riverside — clubs on the Mtkvari

KHIDI is built into the right embankment under the Vakhushti Bagrationi Bridge. Mtkvarze sits in a former Soviet fish restaurant with a balcony over the left bank. Take a Bolt between them.

Saburtalo — the north-west

A Soviet-era residential district with its own metro line, and home to Sabagiro's PHASE parties, free before 23:00.

At the door

Getting in

Most clubs are 18+ and want a passport or ID; Left Bank's listings say so outright. Meteor Studio and some L'ado parties are 21+. Face control is strict at the techno clubs, and the queer nights at Bassiani give priority to LGBTQIA+ and FLINTA* guests, with the organisers reserving the right to refuse anyone without explanation. Photos and video are banned inside Bassiani, Mtkvarze and Left Bank. Come in twos or threes, sober, and know who is playing.

What it costs to get in

Expect ₾30–50 (about €10–17) for a club night. KHIDI's G2 nights run in tiers of ₾30, ₾40 and ₾50, and the bigger Switch Floors parties go up to ₾80. Mtkvarze and Meteor Studio charge ₾15 before midnight. Left Bank's Saturdays and Dedaena Bar's Thursdays are free. Tickets sell on Resident Advisor and at the door.

Getting home

The metro runs from just before 06:00 until about midnight. A ride costs ₾1 and covers 90 minutes of travel, paid by bank card or a ₾2 Metromoney card. After midnight, use Bolt, which operates across the city. If you take a street taxi, agree the fare before you get in.

What visitors get wrong

Take the metro in, not out

It stops around midnight, which is when the big clubs open. Budget for a Bolt home.

Get to Mtkvarze before midnight

The door is ₾15 until 00:00 and ₾40 after. Meteor Studio has the same early price.

Keep the camera off

Bassiani, Mtkvarze and Left Bank ban photos and video inside. Filming is a quick way out.

Carry your passport

Left Bank says ID is mandatory, and the 21+ nights check age at the door.

Ignore bar touts around Shardeni Street

Travel guides warn about bars there that present huge bills. Walk past anyone who invites you in.

Check the listing, not the club

Prices, ages and closing times change by night. Resident Advisor lists almost every club night in the city.

Know the drug laws before you travel

Georgia tightened them in 2025, clubs search everyone at the door and police can demand a drug test. The FAQ sets out the penalties.

Why this city is like this

A club in a swimming pool

Bassiani opened in 2014 in the former pool of Dinamo Arena, a stadium inaugurated in 1976 that now seats 54,139.

KHIDI means bridge

The name is literal. The club is built into the riverbank under the Vakhushti Bagrationi Bridge.

The 2018 raid

On 12 May 2018 police raided Bassiani and arrested its two owners, and people took to the streets in response.

From sewing machines to sound systems

Fabrika, the courtyard complex in Chugureti, was a Soviet sewing factory before it became a hostel, bars and studios.

Questions, answered

What time do clubs close in Tbilisi?

There is no fixed time. Bassiani runs from 23:59 to 12:00, KHIDI to 11:00 on a G2 Saturday and to 16:00 on a Switch Floors night, Mtkvarze to 09:00 and Meteor Studio to 05:00.

How hard is it to get into Bassiani?

Harder than a ticket suggests. Face control is strict, photos are banned, and the queer nights give priority to LGBTQIA+ and FLINTA* guests. Come in a small group, sober, with your passport.

How much does a night out in Tbilisi cost?

A club door is usually ₾30–50 (€10–17), ₾15 before midnight at Mtkvarze and Meteor Studio, and free at Left Bank on Saturdays. A cocktail in Sololaki is about ₾25.

Does the Tbilisi metro run all night?

No. It runs from just before 06:00 until about midnight, at ₾1 for 90 minutes. After that, use Bolt.

What is the best area to go out in Tbilisi?

Sololaki and Vera for bars, Chugureti for courtyards and small clubs. The big clubs stand on their own: Bassiani at Dinamo Arena, KHIDI and Mtkvarze on the river.

Do the protests affect a night out?

Anti-government protests have been held on Rustaveli Avenue since the October 2024 election, nightly for long stretches of 2025. Of the venues in this guide, only Cafe-Gallery is on Rustaveli Avenue, so check local news before you plan a route along it.

What are the drug laws in Georgia?

Strict, and tighter than they were. A Constitutional Court ruling in 2018 ended criminal punishment of adult cannabis consumption in itself, but public use is fined ₾800–1,200 (about €275–415), and sale, supply and growing are crimes. A law in force since 1 June 2025 raised the penalty for sale to 12 to 20 years or life, and set a fine of ₾500–2,000 (about €170–690) or up to 60 days' detention for small quantities of drugs other than cannabis. Refusing a police drug test carries the same fine or detention. In July 2025 Parliament voted to treat cannabis like other drugs, with up to six years in prison for more than 5 g of dried cannabis. UK government travel advice warns of sentences of 5 to 25 years for possession, use or smuggling. Clubs search guests at the door. Leave anything illegal at home.
