Stockholm nightlife is spread across islands, and each one has its own night. Södermalm has the bars, the gig rooms and Under Bron, a club under the Skanstull bridge that runs until 05:00. Stureplan in Östermalm has the polished clubs with 23+ and 25+ doors, and Slakthusområdet, the old meatpacking district south of the centre, has the warehouse nights. Most clubs close at 03:00 and a few at 05:00. Expect 100–195 kr at the door, and pay by card: cash is rarely needed. Worth knowing: the metro runs all night on Friday and Saturday, so getting home at the weekend is easy and cheap.
Ranked by popularity. Tap a card for opening hours, door tips, getting there and tickets.
For the drinks before and after. Hours, prices and the best nights are on each page.
The weekend is Friday and Saturday, and the metro is built around it. Trains run around the clock on Friday and Saturday nights. On other nights the metro stops at about 01:00 and night buses take over. Most clubs open only at the weekend, with Thursday added on Stureplan.
Age limits are set by the club, and they are high. The law lets bars serve you from 18, but each club picks its own number: 21+ at Under Bron, 23+ at Berns and Södra Teatern, 25+ at Spy Bar and at Lemon Bar on Friday and Saturday. Bring a passport or national ID card, not a photo of one.
Bring a card, and budget for the cloakroom. Sweden is close to cashless, and card or phone payment is the norm at every bar. The cloakroom is usually paid on top of the door; Södra Teatern is the exception, with it included in the 195 kr entry.
Under Bron at the weekend, NEU at Berns until 05:00, and the second room at Slakthuset.

Trädgården, the open-air club under the Skanstull bridge, runs from May to September, and the rooftops open their terraces.
Club Soul at Fasching has played soul, funk and disco on vinyl every Saturday since 1993, for 50 kr.
Not for you if you are 18 to 20 and want the big clubs. Many doors are 21+ or older at the weekend, and the bouncers do not bend the rule.
Bars open. A first drink at Tak on the 13th floor, or a beer at Kvarnen on Södermalm.
Dinner. Häktet, Tjoget and Kvarnen are restaurants first and bars later.
Club doors open at Under Bron, Slakthuset and Södra Teatern. Under Bron is free until 23:00.
