Seoul nightlife runs in rounds rather than at one address. A night starts with dinner and soju, moves to a pub, a pocha or a cocktail bar, and only then reaches a club or a karaoke room. Hongdae is the student district, Itaewon holds the underground techno rooms, and Gangnam is the dress-code district with the best-known cocktail bars. Weekend clubs close at 05:00 or 06:00, and the first subway train leaves at about 05:30. Entry is usually ₩10,000 to ₩30,000 (€6–19), and many covers include a drink. Worth knowing: the subway stops around midnight, and clubs want your passport, not a photo of it.

A Seoul night is a chain of stops, not one venue. Dinner comes first, with soju or beer. A second stop follows at a pub, a pocha or a cocktail bar, and a club or a noraebang, the private karaoke room, comes last. Locals count these as rounds, and the rounds are why a night ends at sunrise.
The three big districts are three different nights. Hongdae is the student and live-music district, with small clubs and covers that often include a drink. Itaewon holds the underground techno and house rooms, most of them in basements and on upper floors along Itaewon-ro and Bogwang-ro 60-gil. Gangnam is the dress-code district, with the best-known cocktail bars on Dosan-daero 55-gil and clubs that sell tables.
The subway sets the clock. Trains stop around midnight to 01:00 and restart at about 05:30. After that you have an Owl bus, a taxi with a night surcharge, or a club that stays open until the first train. Itaewon is still rebuilding after the crowd crush of 29 October 2022, in which 159 people died, and the district reported more visitors in 2025 than in 2024.
Volnost, Cakeshop, Faust and Beton Brut are all on the Itaewon strip, and vurt runs a ticketed techno programme at Hapjeong.
The rounds system suits groups. A pocha supper, a craft beer stop and a Hongdae cover with a drink fit into one evening.
Zest, Alice Cheongdam and Bar Cham were all in Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, and Le Chamber and Charles H. made the top 100.
Magpie Brewing and The Booth Brewing pour local beer on the Gyeongnidan slope, and the Euljiro alleys are built for walking between pubs.
NB2 in Hongdae charges ₩10,000 with a free drink, and Boo in Euljiro plays hip-hop and K-pop for ₩15,000.
Itaewon's Homo Hill is the centre of gay nightlife, and Showboo in Euljiro runs a drag show on Friday and Saturday at 22:00.
Not for you if you want to get home cheaply at 01:00. Trains have stopped, Owl buses run roughly every 40 to 60 minutes at best, and taxis add 20 to 40 per cent after 22:00.
Dinner with soju or beer. This is the first round, usually grilled meat, fried chicken or a stew.
Second round at a pub, a pocha or a cocktail bar. The Dosan-daero bars open at 18:00 to 19:00.
Club doors open in Itaewon and Hongdae. Queues are short and the floors are half empty.
The last subway trains go, from about 23:30 to 01:00 depending on the line and station. Decide now whether you stay until the first train.
Peak in the clubs. Seoul's tourist board puts the busiest hours between 01:00 and 05:00.
Weekend clubs close at 05:00 or 06:00 and the first subway train leaves. Hangover soup, haejangguk, is the usual breakfast.
Cakeshop and Volnost are a short walk apart on Itaewon-ro, and Faust and Beton Brut are on Bogwang-ro 60-gil. Start at Southside Parlor for a drink before the doors open.
Zest, Alice Cheongdam and Le Chamber are on the same street, Dosan-daero 55-gil. Reservations are recommended at Alice, and Zest is closed on Mondays on the listing we found.
Old print shops turned pubs: Euljiro Brewing, Showboo and the Nogari Alley. It gets very crowded at weekends, so go on a weekday or early in the evening.
NB2 charges ₩10,000 with a free drink, La Bamba plays reggaeton nearby, and Battery88 is a pocha for the round in between.
Soju, a stew and a long table. Seoulbam in Gyeongnidan and Battery88 in Hongdae are two to start with.
Haejangguk is served by restaurants that stay open all night. Order it at 05:00, before the first train.
The student district around Hongik University. NB2 and La Bamba are on Wausan-ro, Battery88 is a pocha a few doors away, and vurt, the techno room, is a walk away at Hapjeong. Covers are low and often include a drink.
Home of Seoul's underground techno and house rooms, on Itaewon-ro, Bogwang-ro 60-gil and the Usadan-ro side streets. The district is rebuilding after the 2022 crowd crush, and its clubs are open in 2026.
The hillside streets around Noksapyeong station. Magpie Brewing and The Booth Brewing pour local beer, and Seoulbam is a pocha on Gyeongnidan's lane. Quieter than the Itaewon strip, and most places close by 01:00.
South of the Han River. The best-known cocktail bars are on Dosan-daero 55-gil. Gangnam clubs enforce dress codes and sell tables, but their names change often, so we list the bars and not a club.
Euljiro's alleys fill with pubs, a club and a drag show. Bar Cham in a Seochon hanok and Charles H. at the Four Seasons are the quieter end of the same night.
Konkuk University (Geondae) is a student area on Line 2, cheaper than Hongdae or Gangnam. Seongsu and Yeonnam are café and bar districts rather than club districts. We list no venue in them yet.
Bring your passport or alien registration card. Photos of ID are rarely accepted at clubs. Hongdae is casual and Itaewon is relaxed, but Gangnam enforces dress codes: men should avoid shorts, sandals, sweatpants and open-toed shoes, and a few clubs refuse visible tattoos. Volnost seals phone cameras at the door.
Usually ₩10,000 to ₩30,000 (€6–19). Hongdae covers often include one drink, and Itaewon covers run ₩10,000 to ₩20,000. Gangnam tables start at about ₩300,000 (€190) for a basic bottle set, and VIP tables reach ₩3,000,000 (€1,900). Some clubs add a 10 per cent service charge, so ask at entry.

A cocktail bar in Cheongdam, a Gangnam cover or a table share, and a taxi across the river.
Photos of ID are rarely accepted. A passport or an alien registration card is what the door wants.
Taxis are hard to find between 00:00 and 02:00. Call one in the app with a card already linked. Uber also works.
Naver Map and KakaoMap show the last train for your station and direction. On far branches it can leave as early as 23:15.
At weekends many places ask for a Korean phone number to join the queue. Without one, ask staff whether you can add yourself.
Touts push karaoke and hostess bars. One reported case billed a single whisky bottle at ₩1,000,000 (€625).
Secretly filming people is a serious crime in Korea. Volnost seals phone cameras for the same reason.

It ran as a roving party from 2021 and opened a permanent club at 217 Itaewon-ro on 26 February 2026.
