São Paulo

São Paulo nightlife is spread over several districts, and the late end belongs to electronic music. D-Edge in Barra Funda runs Thursday to Sunday, with Friday and Saturday nights listed from 23:59 to 08:00 and the Sunday Superafter from 05:00 to 12:00. Ephigenia, on the 22nd and 23rd floors of a building on the Viaduto Santa Ifigênia, lists Friday nights from 23:00 to 06:00, and Crema Club in Pinheiros lists nights from 21:00 to 06:00. Bars finish earlier: Bar do Cofre, in the former bank vault under the Farol Santander, closes at 01:00 on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are sold through Ingresse, Blueticket, Sympla, Shotgun or RA Tickets, and drinks are often logged on an electronic tab (the comanda) that is paid at the exit. Worth knowing: since December 2025 the metro has run all night from Saturday into Sunday on an experimental basis, extended to 31 January 2027, so the last train is not the end of the night on Saturdays.

Metro, ride-hailing & taxi
The metro runs from about 04:40 to midnight. Lines 1, 2, 3 and 15 are announced to run all night from Saturday into Sunday until 31 January 2027 as an experiment. A single fare was R$5.40 in January 2026. On other nights Uber and 99 are the usual way home; the UK and Canadian governments advise using the ride-hailing app, checking the driver and plate, and not hailing taxis on the street.

What to expect

The night is spread across districts. D-Edge is in Barra Funda, Ephigenia and Anexo Cambridge are in the old centre, Crema Club and Fugaz Bar are in Pinheiros, Fabriketa is in Brás and Bourbon Street is in Moema. Pick one district per night and plan the ride between them rather than the walk.

Doors open late and the party runs into the morning. Fodor's says most clubs open around 21:00 and the crowd arrives around midnight. D-Edge lists 23:59 starts, and its Saturday NAVE night on 24 October 2026 has sets on two floors from 23:59 to 08:00. TechnoAirlines lists the Sunday Superafter from 05:00 to 12:00, so the Saturday night at D-Edge can run into Sunday midday.

Entry is ticketed, and drinks go on a tab. Club nights sell advance tickets online (Ingresse, Blueticket, Sympla, Shotgun, RA Tickets), and some add door sales until the party fills. Inside, drinks are often logged on an electronic card, the comanda, and paid when you leave (Fodor's). Astor says it does not offer individual tabs. A name on a list (nome na lista) is the other common route in: Fodor's lists a discount at D-Edge for an advance list or early arrival, and Grupo Dicas tells readers to check list and early-entry options before going.

Not every night is a club. Bourbon Street holds jazz sessions on Tuesdays at 20:00, Blue Note opens at 19:00 for shows on Avenida Paulista, and Bar do Cofre serves cocktails in a former bank vault.

The neighbourhoods

Barra Funda: the club district

D-Edge sits at Avenida Mário de Andrade 141, with a terrace facing the Memorial da América Latina. Metro Line 3-Vermelha has a Palmeiras-Barra Funda station in the district.

Centro and Santa Ifigênia: rooftops and a bank vault

Ephigenia on the Viaduto Santa Ifigênia, Anexo Cambridge on Rua Álvaro de Carvalho, Cine Jussara on Rua Dom José de Barros and Bar do Cofre in the Farol Santander basement. Canada's advisory names the historical downtown among the areas where violent crime occurs, so arrange the ride home before you arrive.

Pinheiros and Vila Madalena: bars and a small techno club

Crema Club on Rua Cristóvão Gonçalves, Fugaz Bar on Rua Cardeal Arcoverde and Astor in Vila Madalena. Metro Line 2-Verde starts at Vila Madalena.

Avenida Paulista and Consolação: jazz and Rua Augusta

Blue Note is on the 2nd floor of the Conjunto Nacional at Avenida Paulista 2073. Resident Advisor files Bar do Netão, at Rua Augusta 584, under Baixo Augusta, and listed a night there on 1 July 2026.

Rua Major Sertório: late bars

Major Bar & Pista at number 347 lists Friday and Saturday events until 02:00. Fodor's places the Tokyo karaoke bar and rooftop at number 110 (not included in this guide because no 2026 page confirmed it).

Brás and Bom Retiro: warehouse parties

Bourbon Street Music Club on Rua dos Chanés, which describes itself as near the Eucaliptos metro station.

At the door

Getting in

Brazilian law makes supplying alcohol to under-18s a crime, and Resident Advisor lists every club night checked as 18+. Carry photo ID: none of the venue pages checked says which documents the door accepts. D-Edge's rule on its October 2026 listings is no harassment, discrimination or violence, with problems reported at the cashiers. Anexo Cambridge's Tarja Preta night recommends a costume (harness, latex, vinyl) but does not require one, and Bar Carmem's promoter asks guests to wear light clothing. Grupo Dicas warns that upscale venues in Vila Olímpia and Itaim, and some rooftops, may refuse flip-flops or tank tops.

Lists, tickets and the comanda

D-Edge sells advance tickets until 23:59 and then at the door. A list name (nome na lista) is common: Fodor's mentions a discount for an advance list or early arrival at D-Edge, and Tarja Preta offers limited first-come access lists by direct message. Drinks are often logged on an electronic comanda and paid at the exit. Idec says a fine for a lost card is valid only if the guest was at fault and, per its lawyer, cannot exceed 10% of the bill; it is not owed if the card was stolen inside the venue. Ask for a receipt that names the charge. A 2016 legal article says the 10% service charge (taxa de serviço, a gratuity) is optional for the customer. None of the venue pages checked publishes a lost-card fee.

Getting home

The metro closes around midnight on most nights, with an all-night trial from Saturday into Sunday. Use the ride-hailing app from inside the venue and match the plate. The US State Department advises against municipal buses at night and against informal taxis, and the UK says not to hail taxis on the street.

What visitors get wrong

Buy the ticket before midnight

D-Edge says advance tickets are available on the ticket platforms until 23:59 and then at the door, where prices are announced per night.

Ask about the list

Fodor's says D-Edge gives a discount for an advance list or early arrival, and Grupo Dicas lists Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday as cheaper than Friday and Saturday.

Keep the comanda safe

Treat the card like cash. Report a loss to management straight away, state what you drank, and ask for a receipt (nota fiscal) if a fee is charged, as Idec advises.

Check the service charge

A 10% gratuity is often added to bills. A 2016 legal article calls it optional, so look at the receipt before paying.

Order the ride from inside

The UK advises using the official ride-hailing app, checking the vehicle and driver, and watching for diversions. Wait inside the venue until the car is close.

Protect your phone

The US State Department says phones are often snatched by thieves on motorcycles or bicycles, and the UK says phone thefts peak between 16:00 and 21:00. Keep it out on the street.

Watch your drink

The US warns of sedatives in drinks in bars and nightclubs, and the UK says even small amounts of methanol can kill and cannot be detected by taste or smell. Buy your own drinks and keep them in sight.

Check the all-night metro

The Saturday-to-Sunday service is experimental and runs to 31 January 2027, with overnight integration with CPTM trains unavailable. Check the Metrô announcement for the night you go.

Book ahead for Grand Prix weekend

Resident Advisor lists official parties on 6 and 7 November 2026, so expect tickets and rides to be harder to get.

Why this city is like this

A club that moved cities

D-Edge opened in Campo Grande in 2000 and moved to São Paulo on 22 April 2003. DJ Magazine ranked it ninth in its 2009 Top 100 Clubs list, according to Portuguese Wikipedia.

A bar in a bank vault

Bar do Cofre sits in the basement of the Farol Santander, where the Banespão vault used to be. Guests go down the stairs and through heavy steel doors.

A club on the 22nd and 23rd floors

Resident Advisor calls Ephigenia a two-storey penthouse in the middle of the city, and a listing says the 23rd floor has a 360-degree view of the centre.

An all-night metro, tested

The first Saturday of the overnight trial counted about 13,800 boardings between 00:00 and 04:40. Line 3-Vermelha took 7,500 of them.

A jazz room in a shopping centre

Blue Note is on the 2nd floor of the Conjunto Nacional on Avenida Paulista, and a 2025 travel blog gives it 346 seats.
