Split nightlife runs on two clocks. In summer the city goes out every night: drinks on the Riva and in the lanes around Diocletian's Palace, beach bars at Bačvice and Žnjan, and Boiler Club on Marmontova open nightly until 05:00. Out of season the same club opens on Friday and Saturday only, and the night shrinks to the old town cocktail bars, the alternative basement at Kocka and concert nights at Porat. Most bars close at 01:00 or 02:00. In July, Ultra Europe takes over Park Mladeži for three days. Worth knowing: Split has no metro, so the way home is on foot, by taxi or by Uber, which runs 24/7.

Summer and winter are two different cities. Boiler Club opens every night from 22:00 to 05:00 in summer and only on Friday and Saturday in winter. Many of the beach and seafront venues at Bačvice, Zenta and Žnjan are seasonal, and their names and operators change from one summer to the next. Out of season, check before you walk out.
The bars are the main event, not the clubs. Split's best nights are built around cocktail bars: Bar Sistema and String's both open every day from 17:00 to 01:00 and take no reservations, Noor is listed until 02:00, and Roof 68 has the view over the Riva. Our ranked list of the best bars in Split has the details. There is one big club in the centre, an alternative basement and a concert hall, and our list of the best clubs in Split covers all three.
You will walk almost everywhere. The palace, the Riva, Marmontova and the cocktail bars are minutes apart. Kocka and Adriatic Social Club in Lovret are a 15 to 20-minute walk north. Porat on the north shore and the beach bars at Žnjan are easier by taxi or Uber.
Bar Sistema is featured on 50 Best Discovery, and String's works with clarified and fermented drinks. Both open daily until 01:00.

Roof 68 and Olive Tree open at 08:00 and turn into DJ bars after dinner.
Not for you if you want a big club city in winter. Out of season the choice is one club at weekends, an alternative basement and a concert hall.
