Barcelona nightlife runs late, even by Spanish standards. Dinner is at ten, the bars fill after eleven and nobody walks into a club before one. Most clubs close at 05:00 in the week and 06:00 on Friday and Saturday. The city splits into two kinds of night: the beach clubs on the Port Olímpic, with guest lists, tables and a dress code, and the city clubs in Poblenou, Poble-sec and the old town, where the music decides who comes. Entry is usually €10–20 with a drink included. Worth knowing: the metro runs all night on Saturdays and until 02:00 on Fridays, so the ride home costs less than the door.

The night starts two hours later than you think. Dinner at ten, a bar at midnight, the club from one. Walk into a club at 00:30 and you will be standing in an empty room with the bar staff.
There are two nightlifes here, and they barely overlap. The Port Olímpic clubs on the seafront sell tables, guest lists and commercial hits to a mostly visiting crowd. The city clubs, from Razzmatazz in Poblenou to Moog in the Raval, are about who is playing, and at most of them the door checks your ID rather than your outfit.
Saturday is the easy night to get home. The metro runs without a break from Saturday morning into Sunday night, so a 06:00 finish is a €2.90 ride. On Friday it stops at 02:00 and restarts at 05:00, which still works if you stay until closing.
Input on Montjuïc, Nitsa at Apolo and the basement at Moog book serious electronic music every weekend.
Razzmatazz runs five rooms on one ticket, from indie to reggaeton, so nobody has to compromise.
Opium and KU on the Port Olímpic: sea views, table service, a smart-casual door and commercial hits until six.
Two of the last four World's Best Bars are here: Paradiso won in 2022 and Sips in 2023.
If you like dinner at ten and dancing at two, the city already runs on your clock.
Free guest lists before 01:00, pintxos at €1–2 on Carrer de Blai, and a metro ticket instead of a taxi on Saturday.
Not for you if you want an early night that still counts. Clubs are empty before 01:00, and on weeknights the metro stops at midnight.
Dinner, or pintxos and vermouth on Carrer de Blai in Poble-sec.
First drinks in El Born, Gràcia or the Raval. The cocktail bars are full by now.

The old factory district, and home to Razzmatazz: five rooms on Carrer dels Almogàvers, club nights Wednesday to Saturday. The streets around it are quiet, so plan the ride home.
Carrer de Blai for cheap pintxos, Sala Apolo and Laut for the night, and Input up the hill in the Poble Espanyol. The best clubs in Barcelona for electronic music are here.
Moog's techno basement off La Rambla, the restored La Paloma dance hall, and cocktail bars along Carrer de Joaquín Costa. Cheap, dense and a little rough at the edges.
Jamboree, Macarena and Marula within a few minutes of Plaça Reial; across Via Laietana, the cocktail bars of El Born, including Paradiso. Where most visitors start the night.
City Hall by Plaça de Catalunya, Sips on Carrer de Muntaner and craft beer on Carrer de Casp. The Gaixample, the city's main LGBTQ+ bar area, is here too.
No big clubs, just squares, terraces and bars like Bar Canigó and Bobby Gin. Where to go out if you want to talk, then head downhill for a club.
18+ everywhere, and the door wants original photo ID: a passport or national ID card. Photocopies and photos on your phone are turned away. The Port Olímpic beach clubs run a smart-casual door where shoes decide it, and beachwear is refused even in August. The city clubs are relaxed, although City Hall turns away trainers and sportswear.
€10–20, usually with one drink included. Buying online is cheaper: Razzmatazz is €13–18 in advance. The beach clubs are free before 01:00 on a guest list, which you join through a promoter or on WhatsApp. Tables start around €350 for five people.

Cocktails at Paradiso or Sips, a beach-club door after 01:00, four drinks and a taxi at the end.
The metro runs all night, so getting home costs €2.90 instead of a taxi.
Doors ask for an original passport or ID card. A photo on your phone will not do.
The beach clubs are free before 01:00 on a list. After that you pay €15–20.
Razzmatazz is cheaper in advance than at the box office, and Input rarely has free entry at all.
Pickpockets work the old town and busy metro platforms late at night. Front pocket, zip closed.
