Is there an official New Year’s Eve fireworks show in Prague?

None is announced for 2026/27. In 2025/26, e15 reported that Prague had no official fireworks display or videomapping and had dropped both several years ago because of noise and the effect on animals. Crowds still gather: Radio Prague reported thousands on Old Town Square, the Vltava embankment and the Mánes and Charles bridges to see in 2025, with fireworks set off before midnight despite the ban in the historic centre.

The 2024/25 traffic plan, reported by expats.cz, shows what to expect: no parking on Wenceslas Square from noon on 31 December to 10:00 on 1 January, Jáchymova and Pařížská streets by Old Town Square closed from 20:00 to 03:00, and Smetanovo nábřeží near Charles Bridge restricted from 23:00 to 01:00. No 2026/27 closure list was published on the pages checked.

Which fireworks are banned in Prague on 31 December 2026?

Ordinance No. 12/2026, adopted on 19 June 2026 and in force since 8 July 2026, bans fireworks of category F2 and higher “all year without exception” in 20 districts, according to Prague 1’s notice of 17 August 2026: Prague 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15 and 20, plus Dolní Chabry, Dolní Měcholupy, Křeslice, Libuš, Suchdol, Troja and Velká Chuchle. Both Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square lie in Prague 1. Fines reach CZK 100,000.

Expats.cz reported on 20 September 2026 that the city assembly approved another 15 districts, bringing the total to 35 of 57 and adding, among others, Prague 12, 14, 16 and 22. In the 22 remaining districts private fireworks are allowed only from 17:00 on 31 December to 02:00 on 1 January. The article gives no start date for the extension, so check the map on praha.eu. Sky lanterns are banned across the whole city, and professional displays run by licensed companies are exempt.

Which Prague clubs have a verified New Year’s Eve 2026 page?

Only Lucerna Music Bar (Vodičkova 36). Its “Silvestrovská Pop 80s & 90s video party” on 31 December 2026 has doors at 21:00 and a 22:00 start, with DJ Jirka Neumann playing hits from both decades over video clips on an LED screen. The ticket costs CZK 650 (650 Kč), is 18+ and includes a 0.375 l bottle of Bohemia Sekt until midnight. The page shows no online sale.

No other major club has a page. Roxy lists events on 11 December and then 24 January, which does not by itself mean it is closed on 31 December. The Cross Club homepage runs only to 27 October, and Karlovy lázně to 30 October. Fuchs2 shows two entries on Thursday 31 December, but both are placeholders: deBasement is a show postponed from 24 June 2026 to 2027, and “FLOA” is a moved summer open-air with a provisional date. Neither is a New Year’s Eve party.

How do I get home on 31 December and 1 January?

The 2026/27 plan from Prague’s transport system (PID) is not out: the newest items on pid.cz, dated 23 October 2026, say nothing about it. In 2025/26 PID published its notice on 17 December 2025. That year the last metro trains passed through central Prague just after 02:00 on 1 January, and day trams and buses ended about 22:00. Night trams started about 22:00 every 15 minutes on all lines, moved to 20-minute intervals after about 03:30 and ran until about 07:00. Night buses 902, 904, 905, 907 to 911 and 915 departed around 02:30. On 1 January the Sunday holiday timetable applied, with day trams and buses starting about 07:00.

What has not been announced for New Year’s Eve 2026 yet?

  • The 2026/27 PID timetable for 31 December and 1 January (published on 17 December in 2025/26).
  • Road closures and parking bans around Wenceslas Square, Old Town Square and Charles Bridge.
  • The start date of the 35-district fireworks ban.
  • Any Silvestr party at Roxy, Cross Club, Karlovy lázně or Fuchs2.
  • An online ticket link or ticket phases for the Lucerna Music Bar party.
