Brno nightlife by neighbourhood: which area suits your night, from Zelný trh cellar bars and Štefánikova gigs to Pisárky rock and warehouse raves by the station.
Brno nightlife is spread across five areas, and each does a different kind of night. The Old Town around Zelný trh has the cocktail bars, the cellars and the dance floors. Kounicova and Veveří, to the west, hold small gig rooms, a whisky bar and beer pubs. Štefánikova street puts Fléda, Stará Pekárna and Artbar Druhý Pád in a row. Pisárky has one rock and metal club, and the area by the main station has a warehouse for raves.
Pick the area by the night you want, then check how you get home: trams stop around 23:00, and all the night buses leave Hlavní nádraží together. This guide covers what each area is like, where to go and who it suits.
This is the easiest area for a first night, because most of the bars are here and the night buses start at the station a walk away. Zelný trh is the old cabbage market, and the Old Town Hall, Stará radnice, at Radnická 8 holds the tourist information centre and an observation platform. On the square, Air Café is a rum and gin bar in a 17th-century palace that closes at 23:00 on most days, and Slast at number 10 is a cellar bar with brick vaults and hookah. Below the stalls, a medieval tunnel network is open to visitors.
For cocktails, Bar, který neexistuje on Dvořákova opens at 17:00 and closes at 03:30 on Friday and Saturday, and Super Panda Circus on Šilingrovo náměstí has no reservations and a doorbell for an entrance. Desert, a basement bar on Rooseveltova, runs concerts and stays open until 03:00. For beer, Výčep Na Stojáka on Běhounská is standing-only.
The Old Town also holds the dance floors. pul.pit on Kapucínské náměstí books techno and drum and bass, EXIT Club is a basement room on Náměstí Svobody for about 150 people, and Metro Music Bar on Poštovská is listed open until 05:00. This area suits first-time visitors and anyone who wants to walk between bars. It does not suit anyone who wants a cheap, quiet night: the cocktail bars charge cocktail prices.
A simple route for one evening: start at Air Café before it closes at 23:00, move on to Super Panda Circus, which is open until 02:00 from Monday to Saturday, and finish at Desert or Metro Music Bar. Metro is listed as closed on Sunday and Monday, and Super Panda Circus on Sunday, so on those nights Desert and Bar, který neexistuje are the safer choices.
West and north-west of the Old Town, this is where the gig rooms, a whisky bar and the beer pubs are. Klub Alterna on Kounicova lists concerts on seven dates in October 2026, from alt-rock to post-punk, plus a quiz night, and takes online table reservations. Kabinet múz on Sukova street is a bar with draft beer and concerts that start at 20:00, and it closes at midnight.
For a bigger night, Sono Music Club on Veveří street is listed for up to 900 people and is known for its acoustics. For a drink, Whiskey Bar, který neexistuje on Gorkého serves whisky and smoked cocktails, and Ochutnávková pivnice on Lidická has eight taps and a fridge of Belgian beer. A 2023 guide reports that it takes cash only.
Trams stop around 23:00, so decide on a night bus or a taxi before the last band. This area suits music fans and people who would rather sit with a good beer than dance. The venues are on different streets, so check the map before you plan a crawl on foot.
Three live rooms stand on one street north of the Old Town, which makes Štefánikova the simplest place to change your mind. Fléda, at number 24, is a concert hall and club: Laibach play on 15 October 2026 and HVOB on 16 October, and the drum and bass nights have cost 399 Kč (€16) in advance and 500 Kč (€20) at the door, cash only.
Stará Pekárna, at number 8, is a club and pub with an almost daily programme of small concerts, from jazz and blues to alternative bands. Artbar Druhý Pád, at Štefánikova 1, is the student room: quizzes, karaoke, club nights and Raveween on 30 October.
Brno has ten universities and over 65,000 students, and Wednesday is one of the busiest night bus evenings in term time. This street suits students, gig-goers and anyone who has not decided what they want. It does not suit anyone who wants a quiet cocktail: check each listing, because every room runs event by event.
Pisárky is a district west of the Old Town, and this guide lists one venue there. Melodka on Pisárecká is an independent club with roots in a wine bar of 1929, and its programme leans to rock, metal and punk. October 2026 lists Der Weg einer Freiheit on 19 October and The Cloverhearts on 21 October.
This is a destination, not a place to wander in from the bars. Trams stop around 23:00, so settle the way home before the last band. It suits metal and punk fans. It does not suit anyone who wants house or techno, or a night that continues on foot.
The area around the main station is where the night buses start, and where the city's railway past shows. Malá Amerika on Hybešova street is a late 19th-century railway warehouse run as a cultural space with a 520 m² main hall. In October 2026 Resident Advisor lists the EXIT Warehouse day rave there. Events are listed one by one, so check the date and the doors time.
Cejl is the road east of the centre. Vegalité at Cejl 43 lists a concert on 14 October 2026. Travel guides advise against walking Cejl late at night, and advise caution around the main station after dark. Take a tram or a taxi booked in an app, and keep your phone and wallet out of sight while you wait for a night bus. This area suits rave fans who plan ahead. It does not suit a late, unplanned walk.
Brno has no night trams. Trams stop around 23:00, and a night bus network takes over: 11 lines, N89 to N99, all leaving Hlavní nádraží at the same time. On weeknights the buses run every 30 minutes from 23:00 to 01:00, hourly until 04:00, then every 30 minutes until 05:00. On Friday and Saturday they run hourly until 05:00, then every 30 minutes until 07:00. A 60-minute ticket costs 25 Kč (€1.00).
Every line starts at the station, so check the timetable for your route before you head out. For a direct ride, book a taxi in an app such as Bolt, which shows the price before you travel. Travel guides advise agreeing a price in advance or avoiding street taxis.
For nightlife, stay in the Old Town around Zelný trh and Náměstí Svobody. You can walk to most of the bars in this guide, and the main station, where every night bus starts, is within walking distance. Štefánikova is a tram or bus ride away, so a room near the Old Town saves you a late-night search for transport. Compare options on our page of places to stay.
