The 7 best clubs in Los Angeles, ranked: Academy LA, Exchange LA, Sound, Avalon, Los Globos, Catch One and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, with hours, entry prices, ID rules and getting home.
The best clubs in Los Angeles sit in a few districts, and they all follow the same clock. California bans alcohol sales between 02:00 and 06:00, so the big rooms in Hollywood and Downtown open at 22:00 and close at about 03:00, with the last hour on the dance floor and no bar. This list ranks seven clubs by sound, crowd, door, late hours and value, from Hollywood Boulevard to Koreatown.
Looking for the whole city? See the Los Angeles nightlife guide for bars, transport and prices. The basics first: the main club nights are 21+, doors want a physical photo ID, and Metro rail stops around midnight.
Facts checked on 22 October 2026. Line-ups, prices, sold-out status and transport plans change, so confirm on the organiser page before you go.
Academy LA takes first place for sound and consistency. The room has a Funktion-One system, 145 curved LED ceiling panels and an upstairs VIP room, and it holds about 1,000 people (DJ Mag's 2023 profile said 1,500). Fridays and Saturdays run 22:00 to 03:00, and autumn 2026 bookings include Nicky Romero, Steve Aoki and a Desert Hearts all-nighter with Justin Martin. DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs placed it 44th in 2026. The bar is cashless, and tickets from resellers such as StubHub and Eventbrite are not valid. Skip it if you want a small room.
Exchange LA is the best room to see in Downtown. The former Los Angeles Stock Exchange has four floors, seven bars and a main room on the old trading floor, with a capacity of 1,000. Its FAQ gives 22:00 to 03:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, valet service and a strict door: no sandals, tank tops or sportswear, and bags above 12 x 12 x 6 inches are refused. The calendar runs from Mutate techno (LUCIID on 28 November) to Dimitri Vegas & KROMI on 30 October. DJ Mag ranked it 48th in 2026. Cover is listed at $30 to $50.
Sound is the music-first pick. One 8,000 sq ft room with a sunken dancefloor holds about 600 people, and the calendar runs Thursday to Saturday, so there are three chances a week to get in. The dress code is smart casual, with no joggers, shorts, sandals, slides or work boots. Deep Dish plays on 30 October at $41.93 in advance, and X CLUB. on 23 October is sold out. Sound recommends rideshare, with lots at 1632 and 1634 N Las Palmas Ave. DJ Mag placed it 86th in 2026.
Avalon Hollywood is the biggest name on Vine Street. The 1927 theatre has a stage, a balcony and a smaller room, Bardot, for about 250 people. Doors open at 22:00 on Fridays and Saturdays and entry is 21+, with an upscale casual dress code that bans baseball hats. Listings include Chromeo on 23 October, Innellea on 6 November and Oliver Heldens on 31 December, and the Petit Biscuit show on 17 October was $28.75 to $34.50. There is no on-site parking.
Los Globos is the choice for variety. The October 2026 listing mixes college parties listed as 18+, reggaeton at Perreo City, the LA After Dark party at 23:30 and Horror Night VII on 29 October. Each floor has its own stage and bars. The age limit changes by event, so read the listing before you buy.
Catch One has the longest history: it opened in 1973 as Jewel's Catch One. It has five rooms from 155 to 1,200 people and opens on selected nights, with Das Bunker on 31 October and Rhondavous on 25 November. Only small purses are allowed, and they are searched. The venue has its own parking lot.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is the value pick. Friday MUZIQUE is free with an Eventbrite RSVP, Saturday's Paradisco is a disco and house night, and Thursdays bring touring DJs at $11.50 to $23. It closes at 02:00 and is 21+.
Alcohol sales stop at 02:00 everywhere. Exchange LA and Academy LA stay open until 03:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, and Avalon's club nights run to about the same time. A 04:00 last call (Assembly Bill 342) passed the Assembly in June 2025, but its Senate hearing was cancelled in July 2025.
For the main nights at Exchange LA, Academy LA, Avalon and Sound, yes, with a physical photo ID. Exchange LA accepts foreign IDs and passports that show a photo, name and date of birth in English. Los Globos and Catch One list some nights as 18+. Check the event page.
Rail is not an option after midnight: the last B and D Line trains leave around 00:03 and 00:12 under the June 2026 timetable. OWL night buses run from 00:00 to 04:00, and a Metro ride costs $1.75. Most people use rideshare, and Exchange LA offers valet. For bars, prices and areas, read the Los Angeles nightlife guide.

Academy LA on Hollywood Boulevard ranks first here for its Funktion-One sound and Friday and Saturday nights from 22:00 to 03:00. Exchange LA is the pick in Downtown, and Sound is the music-first room.
Avalon charged $28.75 to $34.50 on 17 October 2026, Sound's Deep Dish night was $41.93 in advance and Discover Los Angeles lists Exchange LA at $30 to $50. Friday MUZIQUE at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is free with an RSVP.
Not with alcohol: nothing may be sold or drunk from 02:00 to 06:00. Exchange LA and Academy LA stay open to 03:00 as dance floors without a bar.
Sound has lots at 1632 and 1634 N Las Palmas Ave, Exchange LA provides valet, Catch One has its own lot and Avalon has no on-site parking.
