The 9 best bars in Seoul, ranked: Zest, Alice Cheongdam, Bar Cham, Le Chamber and more, with cocktail prices in won, opening hours and honest downsides.
The best bars in Seoul sit in three groups. Cheongdam, in Gangnam, has the award-winning cocktail bars on Dosan-daero 55-gil: Zest, Alice Cheongdam and Le Chamber. Jongno has Bar Cham in a restored hanok and Charles H. at the Four Seasons. The casual end is in Itaewon, Gyeongnidan and Euljiro, with classic cocktails at Southside Parlor, craft beer at Magpie Brewing and Euljiro Brewing, and a pocha, Seoulbam.
This ranking covers nine bars, with the price of a drink where it is published, the hours and a reason to skip each one. Five of them appear in the Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026 list, which runs to 100: Zest at No. 2, Alice at No. 13, Bar Cham at No. 33, Charles H. at No. 87 and Le Chamber at No. 88. Cocktails run from ₩16,000 (€10) at Southside Parlor to ₩27,000 (€17) at Alice, a craft beer pint is about ₩7,000 to ₩8,000 (€4–5), and most bars close between 00:00 and 03:00.
We ranked bars on the same five things as clubs: sound, crowd, door, late licence and value. For a bar, sound means music at a level where you can still talk. Crowd means a room that suits the drink. Door means how easy it is to get a seat, including reservations. Late licence means open past 01:00. Value compares the price of a drink with the setting. Bars with published hours and a 2026 ranking or listing rank above those without. The Booth Brewing, Showboo, Casa Corona and Battery88 are in our directory but not ranked.
Zest is a basement cocktail bar on Dosan-daero 55-gil in Cheongdam, ranked No. 2 in Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026 and named best bar in Korea for the third year running. The approach is zero waste: honey from urban beekeepers, sodas and tonics made in-house from upcycled ingredients, and drinks made with local micro-distilleries. One listing gives Tuesday to Sunday, 18:00–02:00. Skip it if you want a cheap casual round: Gangnam's best-known bars charge more for one drink than a Hongdae club charges at the door.
Alice is a basement bar at 47 Dosan-daero 55-gil built around an Alice in Wonderland concept, with dark wood, chandeliers and tufted seating. It has twelve signature cocktails at ₩27,000 each and ranked No. 13 in Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026. It closes at 02:00 on weekdays and 03:00 at weekends. Skip it if you want a cheap round: with a cheese platter at ₩30,000, two drinks cost more than most club covers.
Bar Cham occupies a restored hanok at 34 Jahamun-ro 7-gil in Seochon, and the drinks use native Korean liquors and low-waste methods. The menu has included the Jeju 2, made with Jeju soju infused with volcanic-rock tea, a local white-wine vermouth and a green-tea chocolate. It ranked No. 33 in Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, down from sixth the year before. Skip it if you want a late drink or a loud room: the hours we found end at 01:00, with Tuesday closed.
Le Chamber is the latest-closing of the Dosan-daero 55-gil bars: Monday to Thursday until 03:00, Friday and Saturday until 04:00 and Sunday until 02:00. A tourist-board guide describes a refined, classic menu with a whisky focus, and the bar sits at No. 88 on the Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026 list. It opens at 19:00, so treat it as the late stop after dinner. Skip it if you want a walk-in table at 19:00 on a Saturday: book ahead for weekends.
Charles H. is the cocktail bar of the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul at 97 Saemunan-ro, near Gwanghwamun. One guide describes a dim-lit, 1920s-themed room with a large whisky collection, and it ranked No. 87 on the Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026 list. It is open every day from 18:00 to 02:00. Skip it if you want a casual room or a cheap round: it is a hotel bar, and the prices follow the hotel.
Southside Parlor is a casual cocktail bar on Bogwang-ro 60-gil, on the same Itaewon side street as Faust and Beton Brut. It has been open since 2013, and a tourist-board guide describes it as Texan-owned and strong on classic cocktails at ₩16,000 to ₩22,000. It is open daily from 16:00 to 02:00. Skip it if you want a late finish: it closes at 02:00 every night, before most clubs have filled.
Magpie Brewing is a Korean craft brewery with a taproom at 244-1 Noksapyeong-daero, listed under Haebangchon in one guide and Itaewon in another. It pours lager, IPA and dark ales, with a pint at about ₩7,000 (€4), and it is open daily from 15:00 to midnight. The hillside streets around Noksapyeong station suit a walking crawl between breweries and small bars. Skip it if you want music, a dance floor or a late night: the taproom closes at midnight.
Euljiro Brewing is a craft beer bar at 48-16 Supyo-ro, in the alleys behind Euljiro 3-ga station, with a wooden signboard beside a bright pink entrance and beers in novelty glasses. A 2018 review quoted beers from ₩7,500, and a wine bar, DeuMeu, shares the address. It suits an alley crawl through the old print district. Skip it if you want cocktails or a quiet table: it is a beer bar, and Euljiro is crowded at weekends.
Seoulbam is a pocha at 57 Noksapyeong-daero 40-gil, in Gyeongnidan. A pocha began as a tented street stall and is now a drinking house where the focus is soju and the food that goes with it, here soft tofu stew and spicy braised pork. It suits the second round of the evening, between dinner and a club. Skip it if you want a cocktail menu, a dance floor or a quick drink: pochas are for sitting, and you are expected to order food.
The three Cheongdam bars are on the same street, so you can try one, walk to the next and finish at Le Chamber, which stays open to 03:00 on weeknights and 04:00 on Friday and Saturday. Reservations are recommended at Alice. Bar Cham is in Seochon, near Anguk station, and its listed hours end at 01:00, so make it the early stop. Charles H. has no closed day: 18:00 to 02:00 every night.
In Itaewon, start at Southside Parlor on Bogwang-ro 60-gil, then walk to the clubs on the same street. The craft beer taprooms close at midnight or 01:00, so go to the Gyeongnidan ones first. After that the subway has stopped, so link a card to Kakao T before you leave, or take an Owl bus at ₩2,500 (€1.60).
Pick the bar for the hour. Go to the craft beer taprooms and Bar Cham first, to Alice and Zest for a seat and a serious drink list, and to Le Chamber when you want the night to carry on. For closing times, prices and getting home, read our Seoul nightlife guide. When the bars close, our list of the 10 best clubs in Seoul covers the next stop, and the neighbourhood guide shows which area to base yourself in. Looking for a room near Itaewon or Hongdae?
