The 10 best clubs in Nijmegen, ranked: Doornroosje, Mesh, Merleyn, Brebl and the Molenstraat student bars, with closing times, entry prices and honest downsides.
The best clubs in Nijmegen are mostly pop venues and student bars with a late licence, not big commercial discos. The city has one dedicated house and techno club we could confirm, Mesh in the Vasim. Around it, Doornroosje, Merleyn, Waalhalla and Brebl book gigs and one-off club nights, and the Molenstraat and the Eerste Walstraat hold the student bars where most first-years end up.
This list ranks ten of them. Each entry gives the closing time where one is published, the door, the price where we found one and one honest reason to skip it. For several venues we found no published hours or entry price, and we say so instead of guessing. The basics first: alcohol is sold from 18 with ID, the poppodia sell tickets per event, and Bar 2 on the Molenstraat lists a 04:00 close every night.
We ranked on five things: sound, crowd, door, late licence and value. Sound means a room built for music, which is why the poppodia and Mesh sit above the student bars. Crowd means people who came to dance or listen. Door means you can predict how you get in: a ticket for an event, or a walk-in café. Late licence means how long the night runs, and only Mesh and Bar 2 publish a time after 02:00. Value compares the price with the night you get. Every venue appears in a 2025 or 2026 source, and the latest dated event we found for Mesh was in December 2025. We do not sell tickets ourselves.
The pop venue of Nijmegen, on the Stationsplein by the railway station, with a Paarse zaal and a Rode zaal. Touring bands play most nights, and club nights such as The Blend, ICONIC and 40UP fill the gaps. Skip it if you want a club that opens every weekend: the programme is event by event.
A dedicated house and techno club in the Vasim industrial area, opened in the summer of 2023. A December 2025 AZOTH night ran from 23:59 to 06:00 and was listed as 18+, and photos and videos are banned. Skip it if you want a drink in the centre or a confirmed 2026 date: we found none.
Doornroosje's smaller sibling on the Hertogstraat, mostly concerts, with Indie Disco Merleyn on 24 October and the Poederdoos queer party on 7 November. A €90 Merleyn Pass covers a year of concerts. Skip it if you want a late club floor: most evenings are gigs.
An independent venue for adventurous music in the Honigcomplex, with jazz, improvisation, global and electronic acts. A Friday dance night cost €5 in October, Wednesday jam sessions are free and concerts run from €12.50 to €22.50. Skip it if you want a mainstream club.
A party venue in the Honigcomplex on the Waalbandijk, listed on the Doornroosje website and by Into Nijmegen under dancing. L.A. Sagne x FEMME FUGAZI is on 10 December 2026. Skip it if you want published hours and prices: we found none.
A café on the Molenstraat that turns into Club Van Buren at night, with party formats such as Terug Naar Toen and Happy Feelings. Its site talks of more than a thousand visitors, and Google reviews average 3.7. Skip it if you want a curated line-up: Vox called the street's offer mostly mainstream and repetitive.
A collective café on the Bloemerstraat with no boss, vegan-friendly food by day and parties in the basement. Google rates it 4.6 from about 900 reviews. Skip it if you want a polished club: this is an alternative café.
A student bar at Molenstraat 83 that opens at 20:00 and closes at 04:00 every day, according to its own website. Reviews call it an affordable beer bar. Skip it if you want a quiet drink: reviews are mixed on service and payment.
A lively club-style café on the Eerste Walstraat in the student area, popular with younger students according to Vox in 2025. Reviews mention dance music and frequent live events. Skip it if you want a quiet café or published hours: we found none.
A nightlife bar on the Koningstraat with a young crowd, music and parties, listed by Into Nijmegen among the places students go out. Skip it if you want a specialist line-up: reviews are mixed, at 3.9 from about 235, and little else is published.
Most of this list sits in or near the old centre. Bar 2, Club Van Buren and Café De Fuik are on the Molenstraat and the Eerste Walstraat, Café De Plak is on the Bloemerstraat and Bar Ruygh is on the Koningstraat. Doornroosje is on the Stationsplein by the railway station, and Merleyn is on the Hertogstraat. Brebl and Waalhalla share the Waalbandijk in the Honigcomplex by the Waal. Mesh is the outlier: it is in the Vasim, an industrial area outside the centre, so plan a bike ride or a taxi.
Getting home is mostly by bike or on foot. NS runs an extra late train around 01:00 at weekends between Utrecht and Arnhem/Nijmegen. A taxi costs at most €4.31 plus €3.17 per kilometre and €0.52 per minute in 2026, which is about €19 for three kilometres. We could not confirm a 2026 night-bus timetable, so check 9292.
Nijmegen rewards a plan more than a big budget. Check the agenda at Doornroosje, Merleyn, Brebl and Waalhalla first, then fill the rest of the night on the Molenstraat or the Bloemerstraat. Bring ID. For house and techno, Mesh in the Vasim. For gigs and one-off club nights, Doornroosje on the Stationsplein. For a student night out, the Molenstraat, where Bar 2 is open until 04:00.
Bar 2 on the Molenstraat lists 04:00 every night, and Mesh has held nights until 06:00. Most cafés in the old centre close between 00:00 and 02:00.
The student cafés publish no cover charge. A Friday dance night at Brebl cost €5 and its concerts €12.50 to €22.50. Doornroosje, Merleyn and Mesh price each event separately.
Not one fixed night. Into Nijmegen tells students that every day has a party, and the Molenstraat is busy through the week.
