The Winterfestival runs from Tuesday 24 November to Wednesday 23 December 2026 on the Theresienwiese. The city of Munich lists market hours of 14:00 on weekdays and 11:00 at weekends, closing at 22:30 on Mondays and Sundays and 23:30 from Tuesday to Saturday, with a 22:00 close on 23 December. More than 90 per cent of the cultural events are free. Ticketed Grand Chapiteau shows are Ten Thousand Hours (25 to 29 November), Triptych (2 to 9 December) and Mad in Finland (12 to 20 December, no show on 14 December). The Hexenkessel concerts, with over 60 bands in 30 days, are free.
Live music is spread across several areas: Ezé, Botticelli Baby, Jamaram meets Jahcoustix and Falschgeld, with Fliegende Haie on stage (electro-pop). Harry Klein, the Munich club, hosts its own area with DJ Karotte, VJ Sicovaja and the Lovers Lipsync Battle. A traditional midnight waltz welcomes 2027 and the dancing goes on afterwards with no fixed end. The event is partly seated. For scale, a 2024 report from the Abendzeitung said about 10,000 tickets were sold and that the Harry Klein party started at 22:30 that year.
Tollwood lists €38.50 for a standard ticket, from €33 reduced (sold only at Tollwood and München Ticket’s own advance sales points) and €18 for the social ticket, all including advance-booking and ticket-system fees. The tickets also count as an MVV ticket on the day of the event. Tickets are sold through the München Ticket shop and on 089 38 38 50 0 with free dispatch. Remaining tickets may be sold on the day as print@home tickets or at the festival box office, which is open from 09:00 to 02:00. Availability varies, so check Tollwood’s website or social channels for sold-out status.
The party is listed as 18+. Under-18s may attend only with a legal guardian or a person with parental authority, and if someone else supervises a minor the “Übertragung der Aufsichtspflicht” form must be brought. Children under 6 are not admitted, even with a guardian. Bag checks take place before entry and large bags and rucksacks are discouraged. Glass, cans, containers over 0.5 litres, pyrotechnics, sparklers, torches, weapons and animals are prohibited, and dogs are not allowed. Tollwood runs no fireworks and none are permitted on the grounds.
Tollwood asks visitors to use public transport. The city of Munich names U4 or U5 to Theresienwiese as the easiest route, and every Tollwood ticket counts as an MVV ticket. By New Year’s Eve the Market of Ideas has been dismantled, though some food stalls remain on the Food Plaza and the tents have bars with live music.
