The 10 best clubs in Tokyo, ranked: WOMB, VENT, ZEROTOKYO, Circus Tokyo and more, with entry prices in yen, closing times, door rules and the last train home.
The best clubs in Tokyo sit in a handful of districts, and most are in basements or on upper floors you would walk past in daylight. Shibuya has the densest cluster: WOMB and Club Asia are a few streets apart on Maruyamacho, Circus Tokyo is near the station and Enter stands by Miyashita Park. Kabukicho in Shinjuku has ZEROTOKYO and WARP Shinjuku, Roppongi has SEL Octagon Tokyo, VENT sits under Omotesando, and Zouk Tokyo opens in Ginza from Wednesday to Saturday.
Each entry gives you the closing time, the price where it is published and one honest reason to skip the club. The basics: you must be 20 or older with photo ID, most big clubs close at 04:30 or 05:00, and the last trains leave between about 23:30 and 00:50. Prices are in yen, with euro equivalents at about ¥177 to the euro. Live houses such as Liquidroom and Unit sit in our neighbourhood guide.
We ranked the clubs on five things: sound, crowd, door, late licence and value. Sound means a room built for music, with a named system or a dance floor that is the point of the night. Crowd means people who came for the DJ or the party. Door means you can find the age rule, ID rules and price before you queue, so clubs that publish them score higher. Late licence means a finish at 04:30 or 05:00. Value compares the entry price with what is included, such as a drink. Every club here has event listings dated October 2026 or later. The ranking is an editorial judgement based on published information, and we do not sell tickets ourselves.
WOMB has stood in Maruyamacho since 2000 and is the club most visitors mean when they ask for techno in Shibuya. The main floor is a four-storey atrium with a d&b audiotechnik system, and events run most nights from 23:00 to 04:30. Prices are published, at around ¥3,000 in advance. Skip it if you want a small room: this is a large, four-floor club.
VENT puts the sound first: a newly designed system in an acoustically treated basement, two rooms, and techno and house bookings. Club nights run mostly on Friday and Saturday with doors at 23:00. On 3 October 2026 the door cost ¥2,000 before midnight and ¥4,000 after. Skip it if you want a pre-midnight party or a weeknight out.
ZEROTOKYO fills four basement levels of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower with five areas and a listed capacity of about 1,500. The bookings are broad, with headliners such as Axwell in October 2026, and the house rules are published in full. Skip it if you want a small underground room, or if you do not want to leave your camera in a locker.
Circus Tokyo has two floors in Shibuya and runs events that start at 15:00, 19:00 or 23:00, so it works as a club and as a live venue. October 2026 runs from Ben Sims on the 9th to the club's own 11th anniversary weekend. Skip it if you want one fixed sound: the programme moves between techno, bass and pop-leaning electronic.
Club Asia opened in 1996 and marks its 30th anniversary in 2026. It holds about 300 people across a main floor, a lounge and a terrace, and books hard techno, house and hip-hop. It has the priciest door on this list for a headline night: ¥5,500 in advance and ¥6,000 at the door for EXE vol.1, plus a drink charge. Skip it if you want a cheap drop-in night.
Enter opened in December 2022 after Contact and Sound Museum Vision closed, and it reuses Contact's main-floor sound system. It is one room on the sixth floor, with doors at 22:00 and a ¥2,000 door on 3 October 2026. The focus is young artists, with a lean towards minimal, electro and industrial. Skip it if you want a big room: it is small and built for DJs and regulars.
WARP Shinjuku runs a party every night from 21:00 to 04:30 over four floors in Kabukicho, and each ticket includes a drink. In September 2026 men paid ¥1,000 before midnight and ¥2,000 after from Sunday to Thursday, and ¥2,000 and ¥4,000 on Friday and Saturday. Women paid ¥800 to ¥1,000. Skip it if you want a music-first room or have visible tattoos: they can be a reason for refusal.
SEL Octagon Tokyo is a Roppongi basement club for about 700 people, opposite Tokyo Midtown. It runs mainly Thursday to Sunday, with weekend nights from 22:00 to 04:30, and mixes trance, techno and open-format party nights. On 3 October 2026 women entered free before midnight and men paid ¥1,000, each with a drink. Skip it if you have visible tattoos or plan to wear shorts: both can be refused.
Zouk Tokyo is the Japanese outpost of Singapore's Zouk brand, opened in Ginza in October 2023. About 1,000 people fit across the B3 main hall and the B2 Capital lounge, with a VOID Acoustics sound system. It opens Wednesday to Saturday only: 21:00 to 04:00 midweek and 22:00 to 04:30 on Friday and Saturday. Skip it if you want sportswear or a casual door, because ID checks are strict and dress is smart casual.
Shelter is one of the live houses that made Shimokitazawa a music district, and it marks its 35th anniversary in October 2026 with a run of one-man shows. It is a small basement room with rock and punk bands most nights, tickets per show, and no moshing or stage diving. Skip it if you want a dance floor until morning: this is a gig room, and weeknight doors open around 18:30 to 19:00.
Pick one cluster per night. In Shibuya, WOMB, Club Asia and ATOM Tokyo all stand on Maruyamacho, up Dogenzaka from the Hachiko Exit, so you can compare doors on foot. In Kabukicho, ZEROTOKYO and WARP Shinjuku are a few minutes apart, and in Roppongi, SEL Octagon is two minutes from the Oedo Line exits.
Decide before 23:30 how you get home. Trains stop between about 23:30 and 00:50 depending on the line, the first ones run from about 05:00, and late-night express buses have been discontinued. A taxi carries a 20% surcharge from 22:00 to 05:00: about ¥2,700 (€15) for 5 km and ¥5,300 (€30) for 10 km. Re-entry is not allowed at WOMB or Zouk Tokyo, and WARP Shinjuku charges a new fee, so plan to stay once you are in.

For sound and a long programme, WOMB in Shibuya: four floors, with events from 23:00 to 04:30. For a focused techno and house night, VENT in Minami-Aoyama. For the biggest room, ZEROTOKYO in Kabukicho.
Most close at 04:30 or 05:00. WOMB, WARP Shinjuku and ATOM Tokyo run to 04:30, V2 Tokyo to 05:00, and Zouk Tokyo to 04:00 on Wednesday and Thursday and 04:30 on Friday and Saturday.
20+. Clubs check original photo ID. ZEROTOKYO and Zouk Tokyo refuse photocopies and expired IDs, Circus Tokyo refuses under-20s at events after 22:00, and Shelter's all-night shows are 18+.
Usually ¥2,000–4,000 (€11–23). WOMB was ¥3,000 in advance and ¥3,500 at the door in October 2026, VENT ¥2,000 before midnight and ¥4,000 after, and WARP Shinjuku from ¥800 with a drink. Headline nights cost more, for example ¥5,500 in advance at Club Asia.
It depends on the club. WARP Shinjuku, ZEROTOKYO and SEL Octagon say they may refuse visible tattoos, and ATOM Tokyo does not allow them. WOMB does not mention them. Cover up or ask before you queue.
