The 10 best clubs in Leiden, ranked: Nobel, Wibar, Club Hifi and the student pubs, with closing times, entry prices and what each door expects.
The best clubs in Leiden are not all clubs in the usual sense. This is a university town of about 127,000 people, with few large dance floors, so the list below mixes the real ones with the rooms where Leiden actually goes out: a pop venue that turns into a club on Fridays and Saturdays, a warehouse outside the centre, a student disco, and student pubs that run until 04:00.
About 35,000 students study at Leiden University and the Hogeschool Leiden, and that shapes the week. Tuesday and Thursday belong to the student disco, and the weekend belongs to Nobel By Night and Wibar. This list ranks ten places. Each entry gives the closing time, the door, the price where one is published and one honest reason to skip it. The basics first: alcohol is sold to people aged 18 or over, so bring ID, and tickets at Nobel are cashless.
We ranked on five things: sound, crowd, door, late licence and value. Sound means a room built for music or a programme with a clear point of view. Crowd means people who came for the night rather than for the drinks. Door means you can predict whether you get in, including age rules such as ID and a college card at Club Hifi. Late licence means how long the night runs, from Nobel's 02:00 door to De Kroeg's 04:00. Value compares the price with the night you get. Every time, price and address comes from the venue, an event page or the city's tourist board. We do not sell tickets ourselves.
The pop venue of the Leiden region, five minutes from the station, with two halls and a Nobel By Night programme of 19 club nights from October 2026 to February 2027. The nights range from hits and house to trance, new wave, latin and punk, and most are listed as 18+. Skip it if you want one sound every weekend: each night has its own crowd.
A warehouse club and cultural hub on the Willem Barentszstraat with techno, house, hardcore and drum and bass nights. A June 2026 night ran from 23:00 to 05:00 for €12.50, and some nights are free, such as All Night Long on 27 November. Skip it if you want to stay in the centre: Wibar is outside it, and the way back needs planning.
The student disco of Leiden, open every Tuesday and Thursday, with DJs playing hits, a mirror wall and two bars. A regular party normally costs €2.95, and LUF card holders get in free. The door is 18+ and asks for ID and a college card. Skip it if you want a Friday or Saturday night: only Tuesday and Thursday are listed.
A student pub at Kort Rapenburg off the Haarlemmerstraat, open every day except Sunday from 16:00. From Thursday to Saturday the party runs until 04:00, with the doors closing at 02:00. Visit Leiden suggests it as the start of a pub crawl. Skip it if you want a quiet drink: the late nights are for students.
A three-floor nightclub on the Langebrug with a dance floor, karaoke upstairs and a relaxed bar area, open Thursday to Saturday from 23:00. A King's Night party in April 2025 played reggaeton, top charts, house and dance classics for €10. Skip it if you want a published programme: its agenda page was empty in October 2026.
A café for music lovers on the Nieuwe Beestenmarkt, open every day from 15:00, with live bands such as Mancuerda and Funeral Whore on 10 December 2026. Songkick counts more than 200 past concerts. Skip it if you want to dance to hits: the programme is live bands.
The student and party café of the Lazaru's team, near the Beestenmarkt, open on Friday and Saturday from 20:00 to 02:00. Saturday is the disco night, and the venue says it is always full, with a guarded cloakroom in use. Skip it if you want a calm evening or a confirmed 2026 programme: its site was last updated in 2021.
A jazz and wine café on the Nieuwstraat, open since 1972, where Ben Webster reportedly gave his last concert in 1973. It opens from 15:00 on weekdays and closes at 01:00 or 02:00, and guests must be 18 or older. Skip it if you want to dance: this is a jazz café.
Leiden's queer café on the Langegracht, in a former gin factory, with a bar that Visit Leiden says is open on Saturdays with live DJs. It is wheelchair accessible and has gender-neutral toilets. Skip it if you need published hours or a fixed weekly programme: the website lists neither.
The club area of a large studio and rehearsal complex on the Middelstegracht, with concerts listed in 2026 such as GA-20 on 24 March and Danielle Nicole on 3 November. Skip it if you want a DJ and a dance floor: it is a concert venue, and the bands are the point.
Most of this list is in the old centre. Nobel is on the Marktsteeg, about five minutes on foot from Leiden Centraal, De Kroeg is at Kort Rapenburg off the Haarlemmerstraat, NEXT is on the Langebrug, and Rockcafé Lazaru's, De Hut van Ome Henne and Qbus Club are around the Beestenmarkt and the Middelstegracht. Wibar is the outlier: it is outside the centre, so check the route on 9292 and treat it as the whole night.
Getting home is by train, bus, bike or taxi. NS Nachtnet runs an hourly night service through Leiden Centraal between Rotterdam and Utrecht via The Hague, Schiphol and Amsterdam, so check the NS app for your night. At weekends, night bus N40 runs to Zoetermeer. A taxi costs at most €4.31 plus €3.17 per kilometre and €0.52 per minute in 2026.
Leiden rewards a plan more than a big budget. Pick the weekend by the Nobel By Night list and the Wibar programme, then use the student pubs for the hours either side. Bring ID, and a card rather than cash. For closing times, prices and the way home in one place, read our Leiden nightlife guide. Club Hifi normally costs €2.95 and is free with an LUF card. Wibar charged €12.50 for a June 2026 night and lists some nights as free. Nobel prices each night separately, and De Kroeg publishes no entry price.
