The 10 best clubs in Gothenburg, ranked: Pustervik, Park Lane, Nefertiti, Lounge(s) and more, with entry prices, closing times and the age limit for each night.
The best clubs in Gothenburg are packed along one avenue and the streets behind it. Kungsportsavenyn, known as Avenyn, runs for about a kilometre and has the city's highest concentration of pubs and clubs: Lounge(s), Push, Park Lane and Valand are all within a few minutes' walk of each other. The rest of the list spreads out. Pustervik at Järntorget mixes concerts with a club that is free before midnight, Nefertiti runs jazz and free DJ nights inside the old town moat, and Yaki-Da and Excet sit in Vasastan.
Each entry gives you the closing time, the price where it is published and one honest reason to skip the club. The basics: most clubs close at 03:00 or 04:00, and Park Lane stays open until 05:00 on Friday and Saturday. Bars serve from 18, but clubs set their own limit, from 18+ to 25+, and the number often changes with the night.
We ranked the clubs on five things: sound, crowd, door, late licence and value. Sound means a room built for music, whether that is a live stage or a dedicated dance floor. Crowd means people who came for the night. Door means you can find out the age limit and the price before you queue, so clubs that publish them score higher. Late licence means a 04:00 or 05:00 close. Value compares the entry price with what the night offers. Every club here has an official site or a listing updated in 2026. Where a club does not publish a price or an age limit, we say so instead of guessing. We do not sell tickets ourselves.
Pustervik has been Gothenburg's busiest live stage since 1998, and on Friday and Saturday it turns into a club that runs until 03:00. Entry is free before midnight and 70 kr after, one of the cheapest doors on this list. The crowd leans towards indie, rock and R&B rather than Avenyn glamour. Skip it if you want tables and a polished room.
Park Lane calls itself the city's most visited nightclub and runs until 05:00 on Friday and Saturday, at least an hour later than Lounge(s) or Push. Prices and ages are published, which is rare here: 180 kr and 22+ on Friday, 180 kr and 25+ on Saturday, and a cheaper Sunday night at 130 kr and 20+. Skip it if you are under 22 and want a weekend night.
A jazz club since 1978 that books concerts most weeks, runs free DJ nights such as Klubb Global Groove and keeps a listening bar, Jazz Kissa, built around records. The room holds about 300 people, so it feels like a club rather than a hall. Club nights are 20+ or 23+. Skip it if you want a late finish: on nights without an event it closes at midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Three floors and four bars at the canal end of Avenyn, playing house, EDM and R&B. It opens on Thursday from 22:00, on Friday from 17:00 with an after work, and on Saturday from 22:00, closing at 03:00 or 04:00. The age limit climbs through the week: 20+, 23+, then 25+. Skip it if you are under 25 and can only go out on Saturday.
Seven floors and room for more than 2,500 people in a building that has hosted parties since 1886. Shows, stand-up and bands come first, then DJs across two dance floors: one for the hits, one next to the rock bar. Skip it if you want a small room or a single clear sound.
A restaurant, bar and club on Storgatan with two dance floors, a piano bar upstairs and live acts, open from Wednesday. It runs until 03:00 on Wednesday and Thursday and until 04:00 on Friday and Saturday. Skip it if you want one clear music policy: DJs play a mix of styles.
The Gothenburg club of Stureplansgruppen, with house music, a spaceship-style room, heavy stucco and a cupola that opens to the sky in summer. It opens on Friday from 22:00 to 03:00 and on Saturday from 22:00 to 04:00. Skip it if you want to know the price and the age limit before you go: neither is published.
Three dance floors, eight bars and a covered terrace on Vasagatan, with different music in each room, from R&B and pop to hip-hop and schlager. It suits a large group that cannot agree on one sound. Skip it if you dislike big rooms or steep entry: a review calls the price very high, and the age limit is not published.
A restaurant, concert stage and club on Nya Allén by Trädgårdsföreningen. The club runs from 23:00 to 03:00 on selected nights, mostly when a big act is booked, and most events are 18+, the lowest published limit on this list. Skip it if you want a club that opens every weekend.
A South American restaurant on Kungstorget that turns into a dance floor on Friday and Saturday, with salsa and merengue on a wooden floor until 03:00. Skip it if you want DJs and a cover-charge club: this is dinner first, dancing second.
Pick one cluster per night. Avenyn is the easiest: Lounge(s) at number 5 and Push at number 11 sit near the Kungsportsplatsen end, Park Lane at number 38 is further up the avenue, and Valand is on Vasagatan, a short walk away. Yaki-Da and Excet are a few minutes from there in Vasastan. Nefertiti and Tranquilo are inside the old town moat, Trädgår'n stands on Nya Allén by the park, and Pustervik is at Järntorget on the west side, so take the tram.
Gothenburg has no metro, but it has the largest tram network in the Nordic countries, and lines 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10 and 11 also run at night. A zone A ticket costs 38 kr (about €3.40) and lasts 90 minutes, and you can tap a bank card on board.
Gothenburg is smaller than Stockholm, and the door is easier to read once you know the age rule. For closing times, prices and the tram home in one place, read our Gothenburg nightlife guide.
