The 10 best clubs in Cologne, ranked: Bootshaus, Gewölbe, Artheater, Odonien and more, with entry prices, closing times, door rules and how to get home.
The best clubs in Cologne are spread over both banks of the Rhine, and most of them do more than clubbing. Bootshaus, Germany's highest-placed club in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs 2026, sits by the Mülheim harbour with four floors of EDM and techno. Gewölbe keeps a techno club in a brick vault under Köln West station. Ehrenfeld has most of the rest: Artheater, Helios37 and Odonien run club nights until 07:00, and Club Bahnhof Ehrenfeld and the Live Music Hall switch from concerts to parties after 23:00.
This list covers techno, house, hip-hop and indie, plus an afterhour for people who are not done at sunrise. Each entry gives the entry price where it is published, the closing time, how the door works and one honest reason to skip it. The basics: doors at 23:00, most clubs close between 05:00 and 07:00, entry is usually €10–20, and the trams run all night at the weekend.
We ranked clubs on five things: sound, crowd, door, late licence and value. Sound means a room built for music, from Bootshaus's four floors to Gewölbe's brick tunnel. Crowd means people who came for the night rather than the photo. Door means you can predict if you will get in. Late licence means a finish at 05:00 or later, or an afterhour that starts then. Value compares the ticket with what you get. Every club here has events dated 2026, and every price, time and address comes from the venue, Resident Advisor or Cologne's tourist board. We do not sell tickets ourselves.
Germany's highest-placed club in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs 2026, at number 11, with four floors of EDM and harder techno by the Mülheim harbour. The door is relaxed, there is no dress code, and the big names sell out online. Skip it if you want to walk between clubs: it is about 1.7 km from Köln Messe/Deutz station.
A long brick vault under the tracks of Köln West station, with techno and house on Friday and Saturday from 23:00 to 06:00 and guests such as Fritz Kalkbrenner and Ellen Allien this autumn. Tickets cost €12–20, and the Im Fokus nights for local DJs are cheaper. Skip it if you want to film your night: cameras are taped over at the door.
An Ehrenfeld venue since 1998 that switches from bands and comedy to techno, trance and house after 23:00. The Mismatch party in July 2026 cost €14 and ran until 07:00. Skip it on a concert night if you came to dance.
Odo Rumpf's former railway yard is full of rust-brown sculptures and runs club nights from 23:00 to 07:00, 18+, with a February 2027 night priced at €20. It is the most unusual setting on this list. Skip it if you want a polished club.
A revived Helios AG factory hall near Venloer Straße that hosts concerts most evenings and club nights from 23:00 to 07:00 at the weekend. A May 2026 night cost €10–19, 18+. Skip it if you want one reliable sound: the programme swings from 80s parties to electronic nights.
Two floors under the railway arches at Köln-Ehrenfeld station, plus the YUCA room, with concerts from Dizzee Rascal to Kölsch carnival bands and parties after. It is the easiest venue in the city to reach, about 50 metres from the tram. Skip it if you want a techno club: this is a stage first.
The old Rose Club, where Nirvana played in 1989, now runs hip-hop, R&B and 2000s nights from 23:00 several times a week, with some parties free or under €10. It is the easiest night out in the Kwartier Latäng. Skip it if you want electronic music.
A Südstadt club near Chlodwigplatz that plays indie, post-punk, Britpop, 80s and 90s on Friday and Saturday from 23:00 to 05:00. Party entry starts at €6, one of the cheapest doors on this list. Skip it if you want techno or a big sound system.
When the clubs close, Red Cat Lounge opens: Bassreisen runs every Saturday from 06:00 to 15:00 and Tinnitus every Sunday from 06:00 to 18:00, with techno DJs from the region. It is the answer to where to go at six in the morning. Skip it if you value your Sunday.
A former machine factory and a concert hall since 1990, with themed party nights from 23:00 to 05:00, such as the 35-years Depeche Mode party on 10 October 2026. It is a big room, with old cranes still in place. Skip it if you want a small, intimate club.
Plan the night around Ehrenfeld. Club Bahnhof Ehrenfeld, Helios37 and the Live Music Hall are all within about 500 metres of the Venloer Str./Gürtel stop on tram lines 3, 4 and 13, and Artheater is about 400 metres away, or 240 metres from tram 5 at Liebigstraße. Odonien is the outlier, best reached by S-Bahn to Köln-Nippes. In the Kwartier Latäng, Veedel Club and Red Cat Lounge share Luxemburger Straße near Barbarossaplatz, so a hip-hop night can roll into a Saturday afterhour at 06:00.
Bootshaus needs its own plan: tram to Köln Messe/Deutz, then about 1.7 km on foot, or bus 150 to Thermalbad. Getting home is easy at the weekend: on the nights before Saturday, Sunday and holidays the trams run all night, about every 30 minutes, and a single city ticket costs €4.00.
Cologne rewards a plan. Techno people should check Resident Advisor for Gewölbe, Artheater and Odonien and book Bootshaus early; indie and hip-hop fans can walk between the Kwartier Latäng clubs. Most close between 05:00 and 07:00. Tsunami Club and the Live Music Hall finish at 05:00, Gewölbe at 06:00, and Artheater, Helios37 and Odonien can run until 07:00. Red Cat Lounge runs afterhours until 15:00 on Saturday and 18:00 on Sunday.

Rarely. Bootshaus says it has none, but turns away anyone who looks aggressive or too drunk. Gewölbe has a stricter door and tapes over phone cameras. Bring an official photo ID: most clubs are 18+.
Gewölbe at Köln West station, Artheater, Odonien and Helios37 in Ehrenfeld, and Bootshaus across the Rhine in Mülheim. For the morning after, Red Cat Lounge in the Kwartier Latäng.
