The 10 best clubs in Breda, ranked: Mezz, Studio Dependance, Proost and Club Spock, plus the party cafés of the Vismarktstraat, with closing times and door rules.
The best clubs in Breda are one proper venue, one techno room and a lot of party cafés. Breda is a student city of about 180,000 inhabitants, 20,000 of them students, and its nights run along three short streets: the Vismarktstraat, the Visserstraat and the Havermarkt. Mezz, the pop venue on the Keizerstraat, is the nearest thing to a big club, with nights that run to 06:00 on a mayoral exemption. Club Spock plays techno in the Graanbeurs building on the Reigerstraat. The rest are cafés that turn into dance floors late in the evening, some with a licence to stay open until 04:00.
This list ranks ten of them. Each entry gives the closing time where one is published, the door and one honest reason to skip it. The basics: the legal age for alcohol is 18, venues ask for ID, and the standard closing time is 02:00.
We ranked on five things: sound, crowd, door, late licence and value. Sound means a room built for music, which is why Mezz and Club Spock sit above the cafés. Crowd means people who came to dance rather than to pass through. Door means you can predict whether you get in, from a ticket at Mezz to a walk-in café. Late licence means how long the night runs: 02:00 is standard, 04:00 needs an exemption and 06:00 is rare. Value compares the price with the night. Most Breda cafés do not publish door prices or hours, so where we could not confirm a detail we say so. We do not sell tickets ourselves.
Breda's pop venue and its main club. It has three rooms, the largest for up to 1,000 people, and most nights are concerts. Autumn 2026 club nights are listed from 22:30 or 23:00 until 06:00 on Resident Advisor. Skip it if you want somewhere open every night: the box office only opens during events.
The best-documented late address in Breda: the venue's own site gives hours for every day and a 04:00 close on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tuesday is free live music bingo at 21:30, and Cocktailnight XXL gives three cocktails for €22.50. Skip it if you want a club with a big sound system: this is a café that turns into a dance floor.
A cocktail bar and club with a dance floor and a rooftop terrace that looks over the Grote Kerk. It opens on Thursday from 22:00 and on Friday and Saturday from 21:00, with themed nights such as Club Stëlz, Candy Club and The Cocktail Rave. Skip it early in the week: the club nights are Thursday to Saturday.
The techno club of Breda, in the De Graanbeurs building on the Reigerstraat next to the Foodhall. A 2022 student guide named it the place for techno, and a 2025 student guide lists it as the Saturday dance club. It was also one of the venues in the 2018 trial of club nights that ran until 06:00. Skip it if you want a mixed crowd and Dutch hits.
A party café that switches from drinks to dancing around 23:00, with a DJ playing from then. A 2025 student guide names Thursday as the student night, and Explore Breda lists it as a party café six days a week, closing at 04:00. Skip it if you want a quiet table: after 23:00 this is a dance floor.
The party café of the Havermarkt, with an old-ship theme and a DJ who plays Dutch-language hits, dance and après-ski. A 2022 student guide recommends it if you like Dutch music, and a 2025 guide lists Thursday to Saturday. Skip it if you prefer techno or a quiet bar: the playlist is built for singalongs.
The student café of the Havermarkt, where Walkasino nights on Tuesday and Friday let you throw dice for a beer at €2.50 a game, and Wednesday is the shot bar. A 2025 student guide lists Tuesday to Saturday. Skip it if you want a quiet drink: it is loud and young from Tuesday onwards.
One of the long-standing student bars of Breda, with DJs playing current hits and classics and dice game nights on Tuesday and Thursday. A 2025 student guide has it open every day except Sunday and Monday, and it is often named as a favourite of the DJ Hardwell, who comes from Breda. Skip it if you want to dance until the last minute: it is a bar first.
A silent disco where everyone wears headphones with three channels, party, urban and techno, spread over three areas that each have their own DJ. A 2025 student guide has it open on Friday and Saturday. Skip it if you want a loud room and a booked-out DJ: the point is headphones and choice.
A café built around the Beurscrash: when enough drinks are ordered, alarms, lights and jingles go off and prices fall for about ten minutes. A 2025 student guide has it open Thursday to Saturday. Skip it if you want a calm drink: the crash is loud and everyone waits for it.
Eight of these ten are on or next to the same three streets. Proost, Studio Dependance, Café Nassau and Café Janssen are on the Vismarktstraat, The Silent Breda and De Beurs are on the Visserstraat, and Peddels and the Walkabout Café are on the Havermarkt. Club Spock is on the Reigerstraat. Mezz is the outlier: it is on the Keizerstraat, about 1.5 km and a 20-minute walk from Breda station.
Getting home needs a plan. An Arriva night bus is due to start as a two-year trial at the end of 2026, on Saturday nights only, so do not count on it yet. Taxis have a maximum tariff of €4.31 plus €3.17 per kilometre and €0.52 per minute, about €18 for three kilometres. Uber also operates in Breda. Check NS or 9292 for the last train.
Breda rewards a plan more than a big budget. Check the Mezz agenda first, because the club nights depend on a mayoral exemption for each night, then spend the rest of the evening on the Vismarktstraat, where Studio Dependance and Proost publish their hours. Bring ID and a debit card. For closing times, prices and the way home in one place, read our Breda nightlife guide. For club nights and touring acts, Mezz on the Keizerstraat. For techno, Club Spock in the Graanbeurs on the Reigerstraat. For a party café with a published 04:00 licence, Studio Dependance on the Vismarktstraat.
The standard closing time is 02:00. Cafés with a mayoral exemption can stay open until 04:00, and their terraces must close at 02:00. Mezz club nights can run until 06:00 on nights with an exemption, and the autumn 2026 nights are listed until 06:00.
Mezz club nights listed for autumn 2026 cost €15 to €20, and a locker is €2.50. The party cafés on the Vismarktstraat, the Visserstraat and the Havermarkt do not publish door prices, so check at the door.
Club Spock in the Graanbeurs on the Reigerstraat is the techno club, and Mezz programmes techno and drum and bass club nights. The Silent Breda has a techno channel among its three headphone channels on Friday and Saturday.
The legal age for all alcohol is 18. Mezz's night programme after midnight is 18+ unless the listing says otherwise, and Breda's night venues ask guests to show a valid ID. Bring ID even if you look older.
