Xafarix opened in 1986 on Avenida Dom Carlos I in Santos and is known as the oldest live music bar in Lisbon. The name comes from the Chafariz da Esperança, the 18th-century fountain nearby, and the owner lives in the same building.
Since 2019 it has been part of the city's Lojas com História scheme, which recognises historic shops and bars. It opens from Wednesday to Saturday, 23:00 to 04:00, with live music as the reason to come. Not for you if you want a dance floor: people come here to listen.
