Classic cocktail bar off Kottbusser Tor since 1992, named after Buñuel's film, with chandeliers, velvet seats and smoking allowed.
Würgeengel has been on Dresdener Straße, just off Kottbusser Tor, since 1992, long before this part of Kreuzberg filled up with bars. The name is German for The Exterminating Angel, Luis Buñuel's 1962 film. The room has a mirrored bar, beaded chandeliers and velvet seats, and the bartenders work in suits.
The menu runs to classic cocktails, with small plates from the Gorgonzola Club next door. It opens from 19:00 Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sunday. Smokers and cigar fans are welcome, and you can pay by cash or card. Walk-ins are fine during the week, but large groups are not seated on Friday and Saturday. Not for you if you cannot stand smoke.
