The Widder Bar is in the Widder Hotel on Rennweg, in the old town west of the Limmat, and it ranks first in the German-speaking region on the Top 500 Bars list. The room mixes old wooden beams, red leather seats and a lapis lazuli wall, and the shelves hold more than 650 whiskies and over 1,200 spirits in total. A pianist plays regularly.
It opens daily from 12:00 and closes at 01:00 from Monday to Thursday, 02:00 on Friday and Saturday and midnight on Sunday. There are no reservations, so arrive early in the evening for a seat. Not for you if you want to dance or drink cheaply: this is a place for one or two carefully made drinks.
Walk-in only: the bar takes no reservations.
