Westlight is the bar on the 22nd floor of The William Vale hotel in Williamsburg, run by the chef Andrew Carmellini's group. You go up in a lift, and the reason to go is the view across the city.
It opens at 16:00 from Monday to Friday and at noon at the weekend, and closes at midnight from Sunday to Thursday, 01:00 on Friday and 02:00 on Saturday. Everyone must be 21 or over from 18:00. Reservations are recommended at weekends and at sunset; walk-ins get a table when one is free. The dress code is smart casual. Not for you if you want to dance: it is a first-drink stop before Gabriela or the clubs further out.
