Restaurant and bars on Ashton Lane since 1971, including the Wee Whisky Bar, the Big Pub and a rooftop terrace, open daily until midnight.
The Ubiquitous Chip has been on Ashton Lane, the lane behind Byres Road, since 1971. Beyond the restaurant and brasserie are several bars: the Wee Whisky Bar, which calls itself arguably Scotland's smallest bar and claims more whiskies per square foot than any other; the Corner Bar; the Big Pub upstairs, with cocktails and a mural by Michael Lacey; and a rooftop terrace.
The Big Pub and the Wee Whisky Bar open daily from noon to midnight, and both take walk-ins. Ask the bartenders about whisky and food pairings. Hillhead Subway is close by on Byres Road. Not for you if you want to stay out late: the bars here close at midnight, so the night moves on from Ashton Lane.
Walk-ins welcome in the bars; book ahead for the restaurant.
