U4 opened in 1980 on Schönbrunner Straße and took its name from the U-Bahn line outside. In the 1980s it was the home of the new wave scene and a second living room for Falco. Prince played an unannounced after-show set here, and Nirvana and Sade are part of the history too.
Today it is a student and party club, open Tuesday to Saturday from 22:00 to 06:00 at 18+. Tuesday is the student night, free with a student ID before midnight, and other nights run from rock and pop punk to dancehall, afrobeats and hip hop, usually for €5 to €15. Not for you if you are after the 1980s legend rather than a student crowd.
