TivoliVredenburg opened in 2014, when the pop venue Tivoli and the Vredenburg concert hall merged into one building on the Vredenburg, within walking distance of Utrecht Centraal. It stacks six halls on top of each other, from Club Nine for 175 people to Ronda for 2,000, and draws around 1.3 million visitors a year.
After the concerts, the night programme takes over. ON&ON is for house, Jiggy for hip-hop and R&B, Pop-O-Matic for pop, and Park 6 is a free hangout with games, video art and DJs. Discozwemmen, billed as Utrecht's biggest student party, is free on selected Thursdays. Under-18s are not admitted after 23:00, and the building is cashless. Not for you if you want an underground room: this is a big, bright venue run like a concert hall.
