Second-floor Long Street bar with a rooftop: throwback hip-hop and R&B, live bands, DJs and themed nights, open Thursday to Saturday to 02:00.

The Waiting Room is on the second floor at 273 Long Street. Cape Town Magazine describes throwback 2000s hip-hop and R&B nights, with Saturday's Groovy Sensations, and techno and psytrance on the rooftop, and says it has been open for more than ten years. Time Out's 2023 list adds rotating local DJs, themed nights, a "Strictly 2000s" party and a younger, diverse crowd, while Cape Tourism describes live bands, DJs and alternative music and says reservations are not needed.

Listings disagree on opening days: Cape Town Magazine gives Wednesday to Sunday, 19:00 to 02:00, and Cape Tourism gives Thursday to Saturday, 20:00 to 02:00. Both close at 02:00. The hours shown here use the later start on Thursday to Saturday. Entry fees, a dress code beyond "dress-up encouraged" on themed nights, and an age rule are not published on the pages checked. Cape Tourism's transport guide advises against walking on Long Street after 22:00, so book the ride home in the app. Not for you if you want a seated cocktail list.
