The Old Bar is a dive bar and live venue on Johnston Street in Fitzroy. Time Out lists it as open from 15:00 to 03:00 every day, with bands on every night of the week and a free gig on Monday. A happy hour runs from 15:00 to 20:00. Upstairs is the Old Bar Gallery, which hosts workshops and events.
A June 2025 Time Out list of late bars still shows it open from 15:00 until 03:00 daily. That makes it one of the few places in the city where you can watch a band at 01:00 on a Tuesday. Not for you if you want comfort: it is a no-frills bar with loud bands.
