The Mash House fills a three-storey building on Guthrie Street, just off the Cowgate, with bare brick walls, scaffold fittings and a bar on every floor. The main room holds 350 for club nights and 230 for gigs, and two smaller rooms upstairs take about 75 each. Time Out has described its club nights as no-frills raves, with strobes, smoke and a loud system.
Live music runs from 19:00 to 22:00 and club nights from 23:00 to 03:00. The programme covers techno, house, drum and bass and indie gigs, with touring bands booked through autumn 2026. Many events use strobe and haze. Not for you if you need step-free access: the upper rooms are more than 30 steps up and there is no accessible toilet.
