The Liquid Room opened in May 1997 on Victoria Street, the curving Old Town street that drops down to the Grassmarket. It is a basement room for about 800 people, with a main floor and a balcony, and it calls itself a radically independent music venue. Gigs fill the evenings: Arab Strap, Ibibio Sound Machine and Alien Ant Farm are on the autumn 2026 calendar.
Club nights run from 22:30 to 03:00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Indie Thursdays starts at 23:00, while Redemption, Nightvision and PRTY bring house and electronic nights. Football colours and full-face coverings are not allowed. Not for you if you want a small, sweaty room: this is one of the larger venues in the Old Town.
