Bristol's largest independent venue, in a grade II* listed former sheep market on St Thomas Street, with gigs and Saturday indie nights.
The Fleece has put on gigs since 1982 in a grade II* listed building on St Thomas Street, Redcliffe, that was first used as a sheep trading market in the 1800s. It calls itself Bristol's largest independent venue. Radiohead, Oasis, Muse, Jeff Buckley and Amy Winehouse all played here, and a 2021 redesign brought a bigger stage, a new PA and full accessibility.
Gig doors usually open at 19:00, with alternative, rock and metal at the core. On Saturdays in October 2026 the room turns into Propaganda, an indie club night from 23:00 at about £6, and Club Tropicana runs 80s nights. Not for you if you want electronic music.
Club nights are 18+ with photo ID; gig tickets sell in advance.
