Arts centre in the old Royal (Dick) vet school, hosting Tierhaus club nights in its former dissection room and a big Fringe programme.
Summerhall occupies the former Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies on the edge of Newington, which trained vets on the site from 1916 until 2010. It was bought in 2011 and turned into a multi-arts centre, and since March 2025 a charity formed by former staff and tenants, Summerhall Arts, has run the main building on a lease that lasts until at least 2028.
Club nights are occasional rather than weekly. Tierhaus, a house night rooted in nineties club culture, runs in the old dissection room with visuals and installations; its March 2026 date ran from 21:00 to 03:00, from £10. In August, Summerhall is one of the main Fringe venues. Not for you if you want a club every weekend: check the programme first.
