Basement club on Jamaica Street since 1987, home of the Subculture house night and a bodysonic dancefloor, open 23:00–04:00.
Sub Club opened on 1 April 1987 in a basement on Jamaica Street, a few minutes from Glasgow Central, and it is still the city's reference point for house and techno. Subculture, the Saturday night run by residents Harri and Domenic since 1994, is billed as the longest-running weekly house night in the UK. In 2006 the club fitted one of the largest bodysonic dancefloors in the country, so the bass comes up through your feet.
The room holds about 410 people. Nights run from 23:00 to 04:00, and the other promoters include FLY, RARE Club and Animal Farm. The door is casual: jeans and trainers are fine. Not for you if you want space to move: on a good Saturday it is shoulder to shoulder.
Casual door with no real dress code: jeans and trainers are fine, but the 410-capacity room sells out on big nights.
