Small concert hall off Gran Vía that opened in 1979: bands in the evening, club nights from 00:30, Thursday to Saturday.

Sala El Sol opened in 1979 on Calle de los Jardines, a side street between Gran Vía and Sol, and it became one of the stages of La Movida, the burst of music and nightlife that remade Madrid in the early eighties. It still works the same way: a band in the early evening, then the room turns into a club.

Club sessions run every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 00:30, with rotating promoters: Ochoymedio for indie and pop, Elements Cave for acid and techno, Bless for queer nights. Weekend nights finish at 06:00, and tickets run from free guest-list spots to about €22. Not for you if you want a big production: it is a small room built for bands.
