Rock School Barbey started in 1988 as a music school and moved into the former Théâtre Barbey on cours Barbey in 1997. It holds the state SMAC label for contemporary music, its main hall takes about 900 people, and it puts on around 120 concerts a year in every style, with a focus on new French and international acts.
Concerts usually start at 20:30. The autumn 2026 programme runs from Blood Red Shoes and The Lemon Twigs to Zed Yun Pavarotti, Zélie and Seth Gueko, and on 31 October the Arch Club night brings hyperpop and new-generation rap from 21:30 to 01:30. Gig tickets cost around €18. Not for you if you want to dance until dawn: most nights end well before the clubs fill.
