Phonox opened on Brixton Road in 2015 and keeps the format simple: one dark room, a Funktion-One sound system and a big disco ball. Fridays are the '4 Fridays at Phonox' series, where one DJ holds a monthly residency; Saturdays bring guests playing long or all-night sets.
The music runs from house and techno to garage, UK bass and disco. Tickets are sold on Resident Advisor from about £5 to £23 depending on the release, and some are held back for the door. It is 18+ with photo ID and asks you not to film. Not for you if you want several rooms to wander between.
