Pensão Amor occupies a former brothel building between Rua do Alecrim and Pink Street, and it keeps the décor: velvet, mirrored ceilings and a maze of small rooms. The official address is Rua Nova do Carvalho 38, in the middle of the Cais do Sodré strip.
It works as a bar first, with cocktails, regular live music and surprise burlesque and pole shows through the week. It opens at 17:00 every day and closes at 03:00 from Sunday to Wednesday and at 04:00 from Thursday to Saturday. Not for you if you want a quiet drink late on a weekend: by then it is full.
