Amsterdam's temple of pop: concerts and Club Paradiso nights under the stained-glass windows of an 1879 church by Leidseplein.
Paradiso fills a former church on the Weteringschans, built in 1879 and 1880 for the Vrije Gemeente, a free congregation, and opened as a music venue on 30 March 1968. The main hall holds 1,500 people under the old stained-glass windows behind the stage, and a second hall upstairs takes 250.
Concerts come first, then Club Paradiso takes over with night programmes that run from tech house and deep house to reggaeton, dancehall, UK garage and grime. The same team programmes the club Parallel in Noord. The bars are card only, and lockers are available. Not for you if you want to pay cash or turn up without checking the night's programme.
