Osteria del Sole, in Vicolo dei Ranocchi in the Quadrilatero, is documented back to 1465 and calls itself one of the oldest taverns still operating. The rule has not changed: it pours the wine, you bring the food. Pick up mortadella, cheese and bread in the market streets around it, take a seat at the long tables and order a glass.
It serves wine and beer only, with no soft drinks. Hours are 11:00 to 21:30 from Monday to Saturday and 12:00 to 16:00 on Sunday, so it is an aperitivo stop, not a late one. Not for you if you want cocktails or a seat after half past nine.
