Former Kelvinside Parish Church at the top of Byres Road, now bars, a nightclub and a theatre, open until 03:00 Thursday to Saturday.
Òran Mór fills the former Kelvinside Parish Church at the top of Byres Road, where it meets Great Western Road. The name is Gaelic for the great melody of life. Inside are a whisky bar with around 250 malts, restaurants, a live music room, a nightclub and an auditorium under a ceiling mural by Alasdair Gray, home of the lunchtime theatre series A Play, A Pie and A Pint.
It opens from 11:00 on weekdays and 09:00 at the weekend, and closes at 03:00 from Thursday to Saturday and at 02:00 on other nights. Hillhead Subway is a few minutes' walk away, and step-free access is via the Great Western Road entrance. Not for you if you want a small, quiet pub: it is big and busy.
Walk-in bars; gigs, theatre and club nights are ticketed separately.
