Gig and club venue in a 1908 Digbeth mission hall, with a 1,500-capacity main room plus Institute2 and Institute3.

The O2 Institute opened in 1908 as a mission of Carrs Lane Congregational Church and became Digbeth Civic Hall in 1955. It has been a music venue under several names, including The Sanctuary and the HMV Institute. Today it has three rooms: Institute1 for about 1,500 people, Institute2 for 500 and Institute3 for 250.

Most nights are gigs, with doors around 19:00 and a finish around 23:00. Club nights such as Ultimate RnB in Institute2 cost about £18. Gigs are 14+, and under-16s need an adult. Not for you if you want a late night: most events end before the Digbeth clubs get going.
