Three-floor LGBTQ+ club on Kent Street in the Gay Village, open since 1968, with pop, party and R&B nights for up to 2,000.
The Nightingale Club was founded in 1968 by Laurie Williams and Derek Pemberton in Camp Hill and now fills three floors on Kent Street, behind Hurst Street in the Gay Village. It calls itself Birmingham's oldest and largest LGBTQ+ venue, with room for about 2,000 people, murals on the walls and drag acts, go-go dancers and DJs on the big nights.
Thursday is the queer student night, from 22:00 to 04:00, with pop and hyperpop until 01:00 and then R&B, dancehall and hip-hop. Saturday is the main weekend night. Recent tickets cost £5–21. It is 18+. Not for you if you want a quiet bar: this is a full club over three levels.
18+ with photo ID; tickets sell on Skiddle, and big nights such as Halloween sell ahead.
