Cultural centre and student club in the last surviving part of Leipzig's 16th-century fortifications, with parties, gigs, quizzes and a café.
The Moritzbastei is the last remaining section of Leipzig's city fortifications, built between 1551 and 1553. Students dug it out and restored it from the 1970s, and it opened as a cultural venue in 1982. It is often described as the largest student club in Germany and sits by the Gewandhaus and the university on Kurt-Masur-Platz.
Under the vaulted ceilings you get club nights, concerts, comedy and pub quizzes, with semester-opening parties from 23:00, as on 6 and 7 October 2026. All parties are 18+, parental consent forms are not accepted, and students get discounts. Not for you if you have had enough of student parties: the crowd is young and the term calendar sets the mood.
All parties are 18+ with ID, and parental consent forms are not accepted.
