Irish pub on the Jansdam since 1996, with sport on several screens, pitchers on match days and an international student crowd.
Mick O'Connells opened on the Jansdam, near the Dom, in 1996. Its founder, Vincent O'Reilly from Cork, chose Utrecht for its students. It is a 240-square-metre pub with large communal tables, several screens and a crowd that mixes international students, professionals and locals.
Sport is the main event: football on Sunday with chicken wings, the Champions League and the Six Nations, with pitchers to share on the busiest days. Guinness and Irish pub food are on the menu. It is listed as open until 04:00 every night, from 16:00 on weekdays and from noon at the weekend, which makes it one of the latest bars in the centre. Not for you if you dislike sport: on match days the screens set the mood.
Walk-in; arrive early on big match days, when it fills up.
