Le Dantès is the bar of the Sofitel Marseille Vieux-Port at 36 boulevard Charles Livon, by the Pharo at the mouth of the harbour. Its 150 m² terrace looks over the Vieux-Port, with a view that runs from the MuCEM to Notre-Dame de la Garde. The list runs to about 40 cocktails, and DJs play from Thursday to Saturday.
It opens every day from 17:00 to 00:30, which makes it a good sunset stop before you walk back along the south quay to the Trolleybus. The Rowing Club, next door at number 34, is another terrace with a view if this one is full. Not for you if you want a dive bar: this is a smart hotel terrace.
