La Caravelle is a bar at 34 quai du Port, on the north side of the Vieux-Port at the foot of Le Panier. Its terrace is one of the most sought-after in the city: it looks across the boats to the Bonne Mère, the basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde on the hill opposite. Made in Marseille lists it among the best terraces and rooftops in the city.
In July 2025 it was open every day from 09:00 to 22:00, which makes it an apéro stop rather than a late one. Go before sunset for the light on the basilica, then walk round the harbour to the bars and clubs on the south side. Not for you if you want a late drink: it closes at 22:00.
