Kinky Star

Kinky Star is a youth and music centre on the Vlasmarkt, run with the help of volunteers and home to its own record label. It puts on more than 300 bands a year with an emphasis on emerging talent: punk, indie, noise, jazz and electronic acts share the same small stage. In October 2026 the calendar lists something almost every night, from a comedy open mic to album release shows.

Concerts usually start at 20:00 or 21:00 and most are free to enter, which makes it the cheapest good night in the city. Later on, parties such as 9000 Snakez and Dark Entries Night take over and appear on Resident Advisor. Not for you if you want a dance club first and a gig second.
