Kater Blau

Kater Blau opened in 2014 on the Holzmarkt site by the Spree, carrying on from Bar25 and Katerholzig, two clubs that shaped Berlin's riverside party culture. It now bills itself simply as Kater. The site mixes wooden buildings, indoor and outdoor dance floors and a lot of colour, and the music is mostly house and techno.

Weekend parties usually start on Friday and often run into Monday, with some weekday events too. The door favours small, sober groups and colourful, individual outfits over a black uniform, and asks you not to take photos. Prices vary by event. Not for you if you want a dark, minimal room: the look here is playful and busy.
