Jazz Cafe on Parkway has been booking jazz, soul and funk in Camden for more than 30 years. It holds 440, with a standing floor downstairs and a mezzanine restaurant where tables look down on the stage. The programme has widened to R&B and electronic acts.
On Fridays and Saturdays the gig ends and the room becomes a club until 03:00. Saturday is Soul City, a house night with tickets from £5. The venue is strictly 18+ with physical photo ID, and there is no re-entry. Not for you if you want a late techno room: this is a soul, disco and house crowd.
