Incógnito

Incógnito has been running for more than three decades on Rua dos Poiais de São Bento, just outside Bairro Alto, and is often described as the city's first alternative club. There is a bar on the ground floor and a small dance floor in the basement.

The music is indie, alternative rock, post-punk and leftfield electronic, and the crowd is mostly local. Entry is cheap, around €5 to €10, and usually counts towards a drink. Doors open at 23:00 from Thursday to Saturday and close at 04:00, and queues build after midnight at weekends. Not for you if you want a big room or a famous DJ: it is small and dark, and that is the appeal.
